Well there you go boys, Earl Spalding named as Perth coach for the next 2 years, on the rumour file of course. Expect it to be announced in Saturday's West I guess.

My thoughts, probably no one's first pick, or second or third pick either it's fair to say but that doesn't mean he won't succeed. I was a big fan of his as footballer who could really play right from day one in one of the most difficult positions on the ground. Had a successful AFL career that included a premiership with Carlton, 1995 I think. He had a pretty good football brain as a player, hopefully that shows through as a coach and communicator. He also played under Mal Brown and David Parkin. Not a bad resume.
