I thought he was good coach.
An idiot but a good coach.
I thought he lost interest in his last year and I reckon that may have been because they wouldn't recruit for him.
If they had have backed him with recruits like they backed Dunderklumpin he would have done alright.
Just my thoughts.

You're right with Glascott though he was a complete maniac.

Yep i was a fan of the Jarman appointment and you're right they didnt recruit for him.
Thats normal hey (no recruiting) just ask Blakwell in his last season at Perth.

I still find it strange that if it's Spalding, why wasn't it announced last week? The club would've got a lot more exposure in Saturdays west than tucked away in Mondays. Then again good decision making isn't a strong point of our club.

The Preacher wrote: Without wanting to rain on the anti Spalding party,it seems nobody questioned Greg Hardings appointment at Swans a few years ago.

He was the then coach of Wesley and had considerably LESS success than Earl. He wasn't able to get Wesley into the A Grade Finals in the two years he coached them. Both applicants had similar AFL/VFL credentials.

If it worked for Swans why not Perth?

Not quite right Preacher as Harding was coaching Swans Colts for 4 years (including a Premiership in 08) before he was appointed the League Coach in 2011 after Dawson left so he served a decent apprenticeship at Swans!

Spoke a different guy today who I don't think has any contact with the first person I spoke to and he has confirmed that it is Earl Spalding as coach for 2/3 years with Foster as his assistant. They were signed on Friday. The reason that it hasn't been announced is that their is a third person involved who will be a new assistant who is currently away. He has agreed to the terms but until his signature is on the contract, the club won't announce it.

I am not trolling just putting up the info as I get it and the two guys I have spoken to are lifelong Perth people who have lots of contacts within the club with one of the guys still having club involvement each Saturday (no, he is not the toilet cleaner).

I am not saying that the Duke will be our lifesaver. In fact, I think he will find it very hard to even improve us off the bottom but he is what we are going to have so may as well bite the bullet and get on with trying to have some relevance in this compromised competition. I heard from these 2 guys that some pretty big money was offered in WAFL terms to make our coach amongst the top 3/4 paid but no one would take on the task and many many people were approached.

We all have to admit that we are a basket case and at least Peel (or the shell of Peel like the shell of East Perth) have a chance to improve with their AFL set up. We have nothing & when players can earn more in the country then we can only go with what is in front of us and that is give every support to the Duke * hope some new blood will jump on board.

As lovers of Perth, we can do 2 things. Embrace Spalding and give our all to the club as he will or STFU, don't buy your membership go play bowls. Is all we have to work with.

So are you now saying Spaldings appointment will not be announced today as previously stated? That is not acceptable especially considering how long this process has taken. I've never heard of a club delaying announcing the appointment of a new coach until a new assistant has signed. We come up with some weird shit.

Hang on, maybe it's Bomber Thompson.? He is AWOL overseas.

Seriously though, I hope the club has retained the services of Andrew Ruck. He is highly thought of around the place.

We make the simple look complicated don't we? I mean what is wrong with announcing the new coach and Mark Foster and saying further announcements regarding assistant coaches will be made when it can be confirmed.

Yes our club treats us like second class citizens.

They continually make poor decisions, poor appointments not to mention no clue as to what it takes to make us a top 4 team!

I think its time for all (not just a few) to voice there displeasure at what goes on,get rid of the warm fuzzy posts every new pre-season when deep down you know its same shit different bucket.
Sites like this one and WAFL on facebook are good places to voice an opinion, especiall the FB page where it is regularly read by club officials.

Ive never seen a club withhold its announcement of a senior coaching job because they are waiting for a "second assistant" to put pen to paper, are they kidding.

Our off field performances are starting to match our on-field results.

I dont think you are on your own DF i think numbers have been dwindling for a while and i think in 2015 it will be even more noticeable.

I get the feeling our club is meandering along just waiting for the new development and what goes with it????
Whats happening now is just the "gap" years!
