It is a little more than a month since we started discussion on rumours of an WCE takeover or alignment.
Worst fears realised with news today that PFC are considering an alignment with WCE. That indicates to me that discussions have already been on-going and we are moving towards what seems the inevitable.
We better have our constitution in tight order to ensure that members have the final say.
The rumbles are starting.

First of all this topic is just silly, any suggestion of a West Coast takeover is just nonsense.

But until the WAFC gets serious about creating a level playing field in the WAFL that sees us starting each season with as much of a chance at success in all three grades as all other clubs, then I am open to an arrangement with the WCE that strengthens us on and off the field.

Anyone who thinks we are any chance of success under the current zone allocation that has existed for several decades is living in cookoo land. It might be a short term measure until the WAFC and the rest of the competition that is happy for us to have the weakest zones in the WAFL, come around to the idea of a fair competition.

Where do you get an alignment with PFC when the Clownsend article says explicitly that every club has rejected an alignment???

Barich on seven news tonight. Exact words were "Perth are considering an alignment"

The article says the Eagles want to spread their players over 2 clubs, most likely P and EP. It says that the average number of Eagles in the reserves each week is 10, so essentially 5 per club. I think we should reject it. The WAFL clubs have WC over a barrel here. If the clubs hold firm, WC will have no choice but to go to the ammos or spread their players across all WAFL clubs. I don't want Perth to have an alignment by stealth. That is, an alignment as named would require a 75% majority vote. However, just playing a few blokes in the league team each week... well, the club might say, that's not an alignment. It doesn't require a vote. Sounds to me like a Trojan horse. We shouldn't fall for it.

Instead of controlling one Wafl club, it'll be two by the sounds of it ! !

It is still an alliance by any other name. The details will tell us much more.
How will WCE players be distributed. Surely those from WAFL clubs will play with their WAFL club. All other players should be allocated to the two participating clubs pre season, perhaps by a drafting method?
Cannot have a situation where a WCE player might play for, say, EP one week and P the next week.
Supposedly WCE will agree to "no strings attached". The participating clubs would be able to play the players in positions that suit their needs. The players would be required to "play for the Jumper" with the clubs having the right to drop them to the ressies upon poor form?
Early days and it seems that it is going to happen.

And still no communication from the club. The last email I received was on August 17th.

That’s a bit ordinary seeing you have a team in a GF!
