South4 Flag, have you seen our injury list? Langlands, Masten, Smith, Yeo, Sinclair, Grey, Taylor, Busher, Giblett and McInnes would be in our best 12 players. Try taking the likes of Schloithe, Shaw, Strom, Higgins, Schlensog, Ninyette, Parker, Main and a couple more out of your team and see how you go. Remember when the Dockers rested a bunch of senior players on the eve of finals a few years back and got pumped by what would have otherwise been a weaker team? That's what happens. Add to that list Baldwin-Wright and McPartland, not stars, but handy, Fisher having virtually no impact and Rogers also missing (yes, his own fault, I know), and you have one of the worst injury lists I have ever witnessed.

Tony Micale was our colts' coach in the early 80s.  We kicked 2.1 for the entire match.   The player who kicked our only 2 goals was dropped for our next match.

Tony Micale had a 12 year WAFL coaching career where his sides played finals 10 of 12 seasons which included 6 consecutive grand final appearances which yielded 4 flags, and  took  a 2008 East Perth wooden spoon team to a 2010 prelim,in his second stint back at  the Royals with minimal recruiting, on top of winning the accolade of a 2007 AFL assistant coach of the year.,so its a fairly sound CV i wouldv'e thought.

That’s enough about Micale thanks.

Just want to send out best wishes to Matty Taylor who has potentially suffered a punctured lung and looks like being out for a while. Rotten luck, he has had a magnificent season, probably our most consistent player and probably one of the most underrated players in the WAFL.

All the best Mathew. Take care.

Tickle me Elmo, you’ll be the one getting the violin out in a couple of weeks when we get 4 key players back from injury. Heaven forbid we don’t suffer anymore rotten luck between now and then.

In fact we could have up to eight players back. McInness, Sinclair, Grey, Masten, Busher, Rogers, Richardson and McPartland.

Actually make that 9, Giblett should be available to return also. So that's half our starting 18 to return who weren't available on Thursday night and we still have Langlands, Josh Smith, Loersch, DBW and now Taylor out for significant time or the season and Fisher might be doubtful in a couple of weeks.

I think Ted is on the money.  Subi went through a similar situation last year with 8 to 10 first 22 players out with injury at any given time and subsequently missed the finals.  Whilst disappointing, the upside was that the likes of the Hickmott brothers, the Fullgrabes, Nick Martin, Jack Beverley, Ben Reid and so on were able to get extended runs in the seniors which is bearing fruit this year.  I have no doubt the Dees will be much stronger when their A graders return but will also have more depth with several young blokes getting valuable experience in the interim so IMO, the rest of the comp will have to sit up and take note.  Will it translate into success this year? who knows but it will certainly have a positive impact over the next few seasons if Subi from last year is anything to go by.

What has happened to Richardson? Doesn't;t appear on injury list and hasn't been playing reserves.

Hopefully from 19 June we will have Masten, Yeo, Sinclair, Grey, McPartland, Rogers, Giblett and McInnes available, with Langlands only a week or two after. There was some talk of bringing some back through the reserves. I don't think that's necessary for players of that experience. If guys like, say, Masten, Yeo or Grey are a bit rusty play them forward. Got to give better value than Hendo or Browne even if a bit underdone. Too soon for an update on Taylor but a quick google search suggests a punctured lung is a 6-8 recovery, so probably best to resign ourselves to not seeing him again this season. Just got to hope Fisher is not too bad and can overcome his injury with the break.
