when mick walked in at carlton, he gave the players a clean slate, making his own mind up about the players not any preconceived media drivel opinion, so give JL credit for the same, and Marshy performed at the next level down so he deserved a shot on form

Just my opinion Ucker, not happy with the Marsh decision. Lacks courage for me. One score doesnt make a summer.

Mick wanted all players to prove themselves before he would cut and hack. 1 hundred in a futures league game doesnt prove anything.

Obviously sent a positive message through the group looking at our recent score.

Beaten again with a day to spare.
Lots of hard work for JL to do.

JL did say it will be a hard road and will take some time. Just gotta sit back and watch us get some more floggings for a while. Wonder whose faces we'll see in the team next year. Time for a clean out you think?

I love that question Anchor. Which clubs do you get rid off?

there have been precedents set in the past with long established clubs merging, Claremont Cott and Nedlands. Other clubs have moved to "outer suburbs" West perth to Willeton, North Perth to Joondalup. with what seems to be a huge shortage of fast bowlers to challenge the batsman maybe a few more merges could occur. For example Mt lawley/Bayswater Morley; Joondalup/Wanneroo; Willeton/Gosnells; Freo/Melville; BayswaterMorley/Midland Guilford. Better players playing each other more times in a season. Sadly the international duties of our very best players prevent them from ever playing club cricket, back in the good old days of WA dominance the very best Lillee Marsh Edwards Wood Marsh would play a few grade cricket games per season and provide some evidence to the up and comers of what a quality player was like, close up and personal sledging and all. Sadly those days will never return. A feather in the WACA cap to have appointed Langer, if he can do half of what Shipperd (another hard nosed grafter)has done for Vic then the future looks brighter

Yes my recommendation would be to merge more clubs. The lack of depth of bowling at pennant cricket level is really suffering and the scores being registered by teams are enormous. Given the advantages that the new bats provide and against second rate pennant attacks no wonder our wunderkids (batsmen) look out of place at shield level against high quality eastern states bowlers
As a sideline I recall attacks at A grade level being Malone/Gannon; Alderman/Watson: Wilson/Yardley/Mann, imagine the thrill of getting a few against those guys and the confidence it would give you when you went to shield cricket

How do you merge Joondalup and Wanneroo? Baysie and Midland. Gosnells and Willetton. Joondalup and Gosnells are in the fastest growing areas in Aust let alone WA. Does that mean Willetton pack and move to Sutherland? Willetton will go spare at that. Wanneroo have just had its most success ever. No way will they merge. You cannot touch Joondalup, Midland, Gosnells, Rockingham Mandurah. they are all on the fringes of the metro area. It has to be the inner metro clubs that make the sacrifice.

On fast bowlers, I remember a debut opening the batting against Wanneroo which included an attack of Wayne Clark and Peter Clough. The next game was against Scarborough which had a bloke called D K Lillee and Oscar Sclegal? at the other end.

If You want the answer to our fast bowling stocks take a peek at our district development program at club level to give you some answers at how far behind footy it is in development.

didnt know lillee played for scarborough, thought it was Perth and Melville only. If that debut was yours I would have been crouching behind you in the slips.
Which clubs are left in the inner city..............Perth and who Baysie??. And any club will go spare if it needs to merge,
OK then 1st and 2nd divisions with releagtion and promotion, although like EPL all good players will move when relegated
