With North giving up the captaincy i cannot see anyone at all with the credentials in WA right now including Voges. If Voges got it, no disrespect to him but it would be more of the same that North dished up, they need to get Katich straight back in NOW imo. While Stephens is coach too i think we are heading to a dead end. What WA need right now IMO is coach and captain combo that have both been there and done it sucessfully for a long time..Langer/Katich. By all means Stephens can stay as an assistant as he was with Arthur
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

Is Langer still the Aust batting coach?? his passion and drive won't be a perfect fit for what the WACA are looking for, or maybe Gilly??
The unfortunate thing is we will have to import a captain if we want quality, Smith still has a few years of test cricket in him yet so you can rule him out.
Shaun Marsh had it all at his feet but poor attitude has let it all go to waste, Mitch is still young enough to turn it around and hopefully learns from his brothers mistakes and makes a go of it.

I heard talk on 91.3FM regarding the state of WA cricket. Some things that were discussed were; Reducing the number of WACA clubs, seemingly talent is spread too thin. Bowlers are very weak not enough pressure on batsman from quality attacks, that is good bowlers from both ends

I am not sure that there is a player in WA that could shake this mob up,either as a player, captain or coach. It needs outside intervention to stir them up.
I would have thought that DKL would have had a more positive affect than he has.He seems to me to be merely a figure head.
There needs to be someone come in and not have favourites and drop players to make them aware that it should be an honour not a privelege to play for your state.

You're right anchor, things haven't been rosy for too many years and no one looks to be the one to sort our losers out. I too thought DK would be a saviour, but is he still there???? As far as I'm concerned, I hope this latest storm produces something and I don't care if they sack a player or a board member or a coach or the whole friggin lot and start over. We've heard all sorts of promises..."this is our year" and what what have we got....jsckshite!! We're the Perth FC of the cricket world. Everyone's got an opinion, but no one's got a solution. We were once the absolute kings of cricket and for a few years, the Aussie cricket side WAS WACA. Now we wear the jester's vest coz at the end of the day when it's needed.......we're effin bloody USELESS! Do I seemed p'd off.....i certainly hope so

Interesting that Tom Moody had his two cents worth today claiming that the Marsh brothers had been hung out to dry in all this. Moody as I recall was the coach when things really started going pear shaped, so I don't know if he is the most unbiased commentator in this. I agree that on a short term basis the team needs a coach along similar lines to Micky Arthur, who will not compromise the team discipline, probably from outside the WACA culture. Ric Charlesworth would be perfect but he is unavailable. Langer is too close to some of the players I reckon. What about enticing Greg Shipperd back from Victoria? He is a proven successful coach as his results demonstrate

Well that will keep North in the team for the next 2 years so he is all squared away.

Well done to Warriors (248) rolling Vic for 211 and gaining 1st innings points. Congrats to Behrendorff with 4/29. Hope we can go on with it now to gain outright points.

2ND Innings not real good 5/76? Overall lead 125. Will be listening with interest tomorrow. The tailenders will have some work to do
Outright to Vic by the looks of it but who knows.
