Mate...I think you'll find everyone on here appreciates the work you and your colleagues do on a daily basis. I guess that is my point in being critical of this government in particular that we have so many advantages in terms of geographical isolation and material wealth as a state, that more could have been done during 2 years of virtually no Covid to make the life of our health workers easier. Whether that's building dedicated Covid hospitals or repurposing existing assets like Freo Hospital with state of the art equipment, offering big bucks and other enticements to poach medical staff from elsewhere or getting them to come out of retirement and so on. I was reading some narrative by one of the 5,000+ medicos who has signed a Change.org petition to open the borders on 5 Feb and he was saying the private hospital he works in has had most elective surgeries cancelled based on the 5 Feb opening date and now there's a whole group of staff sitting around waiting to see what happens next. There's also a story from a Singaporean anaesthetist who has been through all the protocols, accepted a job, signed a lease on an apartment from 6 Feb who now has to change everything. I think most agree except your rusted on McCoward supporters that there's no valid reason to push opening up back other than political. But keep up the good work Freez and hopefully this will be a distant memory one day although I don't think it will be any time soon...maybe when the Sharks win their next flag.
Dedicated purpose built Covid hospitals within a 2 year time frame , how long B.C, did it take to build the MATAGARUP BRIDGE in east perth?????3 years i believe, even after a well established timeline, the contractors still failed to have the project completed by the start of the 2018 AFL season. The prevailing view in the initial stages of the pandemic was the simple and only reasonable playbook of social distancing, closing the borders, while we waited for much needed vaccines to be developed where they would rescue us and the world from this insidious disease which has turned the worlds economy on its head, but even 12 months after they been developed, the world is still in the grip of this new variant, and how Magoo was supposed to have the foresight to anticipate and predict the staggering numbers coming from the East is anybodies guess, and his projected 5th of FEB opening was as he publicly stated based on the Delta variant and the OMicron has forced his hand again to shift the date, and no one on this forum has a better idea of the machinations of modern day hospitals than Mr FREEZE,and he has constantly told us, regardless of what new facilities are built, you still need the doctors and nurses to man them, and we are not unique here and abroad, with this perennial public hospital staff shortage problem, and i honestly feel the man has been unfairly vilified for doing what he thinks is in the best interests of WA public heath, and people conveniently forget he was given an overwhelming mandate at the polls to do so,and hopefully with the dwindling numbers over east we will get a definitive opening date, where our undoubted beleaguered front line medical professionals will stand more of a fighting chance to perform their service to the best of their abilities..
