there's 6 states with snap lockdowns on
and that is because 1 state is in spread trouble and has lost control of it
and we have 1 deputy PM fined for not wearing a mask in that 1 state
says everything and explains in a big part why the 6 other states put up the padlocks

read a report two people turned away from a restaurant for not signing in with a QR code - and so the poor old 39yo owner of restaurant gets a water bottle chucked at him & and then punched for being responsible and diligent
something stinks badly in this country and it isn't that poor restaurant owner

What was the AMA's advice to the WA government?  Did they recommend a lockdown or did they recommend we stay open?

Speaking of which, what's happened to WA AMA president Dr Andrew Miller? No longer AMA WA president. Did I miss something or has this just happened overnight? Dr Andrew Miller has been a most vocal critict of the government and suddenly disappeared.

From the AMA (WA) official site:

Mark Duncan-Smith elected as new president of AMA (WA) | AMA (WA) (amawa.com.au)

I am not au fait with the AMA (WA) rules but one possibility is that executive positions may have term limits.

Edit: a President can only serve two successive terms.

I might come up and join you SS...oh ...that's right....no-one is allowed to leave Perth... :-(.  There's something very wrong with the way we're handling this situation.  I work for a global Finnish headquartered mining equipment company and report direct to Helsinki.  My boss goes on summer holiday next week and is taking his family to Italy and Sicily for a few weeks.  I however, can't even leave Perth to go to York!!!  After everyone doing the right thing when this all started, it's turned into total bullshit for mine as we're not learning from experiences both here and overseas.  There has to be a better way than locking everything down when we get a handful of infections.

Could not have said it better myself. I was on board last year.

After over a year, the fact that we are still doing this BS at the drop of a hat, literally a sledgehammer to a walnut,  and as you say one of the most crazy things is we cannot leave Perth to drive to York while places with thousands of cases are still moving about at least their own state is madness, I mean they have had ages to come up with a plan to track peoples movements, ring fence areas, we cannot give people hard proof of a vaccination and what is the point anyway when fully vaxed people are getting locked up with every other joker?

I'm at work, a quick walk through the CBD sees work sites full of people, some with masks so without.  farce.
