Another heartbreakingly inept batting performance by the Aussies.
Other than the East Perth Football Club, the Australian cricket team is the only side I passionately support (though I do follow the WA Sheffield Shield team and the Perth Scorchers).
We'll do well to avoid a 4-0 series loss here, while a revamped and very impressive England outfit will be very confident come the 2023 Ashes series.

Totally agree BH, using one's  feet and playing straight is the key to scoring runs in India. Though considering all those greats you mentioned BH, how come Aust have only won once in 50 years then? It must be a collective effort.

The shot selection today has been the worst I have ever seen from any test playing team considering the conditions. How many ridiculous sweeps and reverse sweeps were played? How many have India played in their 2nd innings? Who is the Aust batting coach....Di Venuto? Surely he must come under the radar.....

But I guess with Cummins and McDonald's batting nous, I can see why they are responsible for today's collapse. Same as JL and his bowling prowess, he was responsible for Aust bowlers going to pot at Headingley and the GABBA a few years back.

the batting needs some serious attention Green being fit makes that a slim bit easier , but 40 wickets & not once batted out a day is time
but it's proven there is no way this squad will win in England and possibly a pretty good spinner found in this carnage

Each player should have to read 'the MCC' for Xmas. First lesson 'no sweeps off the stumps, banning the reverse sweep completely'. The shot is designed for balls going towards leg side. As we said before, Border would have been hard to get out on that pitch.

mate it's been the weapon in this plan and it's failed so miserably the Indians are just bowling straight balls - and it's worked

When Carey was bowled trying to reverse sweep, for a moment, I thought I was watching a replay of a previous dismissal. India only need to play 2 bowlers - Ashwin and Jadeja -  they can play 8 specialist batsmen if they wish. They will have no problem taking 20 wickets.

After losing 4-0 in India and then who is to say we dont lose 5-0 in England the way they are playing at the moment will someone finally put the heat on this hopeless Cummins-McDonald "leadership" duo!
That could be 9-0 lost away from home adding to a loss against Sri Lanka last winter in which they had their B side in for that 2nd Test.
You cant hang your hat on beating up on the terrible WI at home each summer or a SA side missing key players!

Rarely have I been so depressed after a loss in a test match. Nagpur I couid handle because they were totally outplayed from start to finish but this one was different. They were miles ahead of the game on day two when India were 7 - 139, still 124 runs behind on the first innings, Even a 50 or 60 run lead would have put a different complexion on the match. But India fought back and somehow bought the first innings to parity..

Then Australia started so positively in the 2nd innings at the end of day 2, more false hope which came down in a crashing train wreck today. I'm not sure what discussions are going on in the changerooms but all the batsmen appear muddled up in their plans in facing Ashwin and Jadeja, who are excellent bowlers but not unplayable.. Batsmen are playing high risk shots and not trusting their defence. Handscomb in the first innings was the only guy who adjusted to the conditions and was hard to get out. Smith looks all at sea and he doesn't seem to have a method either which is very unusual for him

Lyon was the only Australian bowler who performed up to expectations. He did all he could to try and keep Australia in the game but he had little support. The selection of the team was baffling with two rookie bowlers with one test between them and an out of sorts Cummins. Kunemann showed very little really and was pumped by the Indian batsman after they had worked him out. He should be on the next plane back to Australia, along with Agar who the selectors have obviously lost confidence in. One of the selectors (Tony Dudamaide) had the audacity to say that the reason they didn't pick Agar was because of his lack of recent red ball cricket.  Well he did play the Sydney test so that sounds pretty dodgy. Fly him back to play for WA  if you are not going to pick him you half wits. Also they should have a spot on the plane for Warner who is obviously cooked and to send him out there again would be a risk to his health and safety.

Lets see how this player driven stuff goes now when they are being flogged, I suspect no matter who they bring in for the next test will not make a jot of difference. India have pretty much unstoppable momentum in the series. When the Indian top order get their act together Australia will be in for more pain and I suspect this is something they might have to get used to with England rampant at the moment and seeking revenge for their ashes humiliation last summer
