You are a sour man BH. You wait until he has a bad one, then snipe him.
Most of them went for plenty tonight.
What has he done to upset you.

Um you do realise I have posted many a time how many runs that AJ Pie concedes, shit gets wickets etc.
It was also said last night how he had given up 150 runs in the last 3 games, so maybe it is not just I that sees he is a weakness in the Perth bowling attack as opposition batsmen and commentators also have picked up on it.
He bowls half volleys in the slot way too often and to go for 6 off the last ball of the innings was unforgiveable.
If you dont like someone casting a critical eye over someones form then look away and maybe stick to The West and their fanboy reporters on all WA teams!
In the end the batsman lead by Turner got them home with help from Inglis before Connolly & Hobson closed it out late.
Moving forward the likes of Tye should be banished and young Connolly, Morris and co given more game time whilst you would expect a fit and firing Richardson will be back along with the perennial injured M.Marsh and Green, Morris & co will depend on International duties.

A couple of other things, the run out of Eskinazi was kanga cricket stuff.
The West are not even worthy of my fish and chips wrapper after the absolute disrespectful tripe they put in the paper about Scorchers vs "Nobodies" .......

BH, I agree with your comments about the West, mind numbingly stupid an disrespectful. Why give the opposition ammunition, those pathetic immature comments helped The Heats cause significantly, really galvanising the team as was mentioned by the players miked up and they nearly pulled off the win. Never fear your opposition but always respect them. While I wouldn't want the Scorchers to have lost, it would have been enjoyable seeing the West numpties eating humble pie.

The Heat had nothing to lose last night. The game was total pressure from the Heats first ball.To the last ball of the Scorchers inning's.
Momentum swings both ways for the match. That Turner runout put the Heat in the box seat.
A teenager enters the arena.Who has been selected for his fielding.Hardly had a bat in his hand. The Tv cameras focussing on his family. Before he has come to the wicket.
Connolly was dropped .The last turning point in the match. The pressure of the moment, screaming crowd.
Sure the Scorchers love the media exposure. Not sure the daily newspaper helped last night.
Wonderful end to the BBL season.Well done to the Scorchers and the Wa sporting public.CA must be encouraged by the large amount of Woman and Children who attend BBL matches. The entry gateway into Cricket now.

Not a BBL fan, but that was a fantastic cricket contest. Kudos to the Heat for turning their season around in the latter stages, came to play, and play they did.
Turner once again delivers in the heat of the battle, words can't describe Connolly's cameo....as gtrx said, 19 yrs old, 53K packed cauldron, BBL title on the line, minimal batting exposure and the kid drags his side over the line....sums up ability and temperament right there.

As for Tye, agree with BH, for a fella of his experience and nous, his last 3 games in closing out the innings have been below par. Yep never easy to do, but even harder when you are bowling pies.

GTR I remember watching Connolly Captain the Australia Under 19 team at the World Cup last year in the West Indies and he is definitely a good all round cricketer, with a sound cricketing brain and calmness.
He batted at 3 in that Tournament (WA's Wyllie opened with Kellaway from VIC) and bowled second or third change, so he was definitely played because of his all round ability yesterday coming in at 7 and to bowl some spin if needed not just for his fielding!
If they went with Hatzoglou instead of Connolly in the selected side our tail would have started at 7 after Hobson and that is far too long a tail in any form of cricket let alone professional comps!

The motto for the Scorchers should be "find a way" which is what they consistently seem to do. I thought Brisbane were in control of that match for most of it however when they threatened to run away with the game, the Scorchers always found a way to stay in the contest and ultimately win it.

Brisbane were 1 -104 and looking good for 200, then the Scorchers bowlers took 3 quick wickets to slow them down.
175 was a good score batting first in a final and I thought that everything had to go right for the Scorchers to get there. As we know they were quickly reduced to 3 for 50 and it looked grim, enter Inglis and Turner who put together a great partnership but then another swing with both out in the same over and it looked like the Heats game again.

Then 2 guys who had hardly batted in the BBL12 took up the challenge and got the team home.
They have such a good team culture that someone will always step up if they are needed in a difficult situation. Expensive overseas players are of little value unless they buy into this culture.

This was the best BBL final of the 12 and Brisbane Heat should take an enormous amount of credit for their performance in a hostile environment. They nearly won it from 5th and didn't deserve the disrespectful "nobodies" tag from the local "newspaper" which is only fit to wipe your bum if you run out of toilet paper. The term "nobodies" would certainly apply to some of the journalists who work for that rag.
