No Smith for Sixers. Huge difference.
As you pointed out in another post Mike, the Scorchers did a great job in the PP to keep Smith away from the strike. Five ball in the PP. Very clever bowling.
I think CA milked the tother side test players hoping that maybe the Sixers would beat the Scorchers, then Heat beat them as well.
Strange allowing them their players, yet Agar not allowed to play for Scorchers.

Its the old adage, champion players do not necessarily make the best commentators. Ponting is good because he manages to mostly keep his personal biases out of his analysis. Waugh, Haddin and Lee are cheer leaders for the Sydney teams.


Ponting showed his true colours the other night when Zampa dropped a catch which cost Hobart a finals spot and the great Ricky Ponting was very scathing about Zampa and his fielding ability - I think he actually said "That will cost Hobart a spot in the finals"

Other than that though i agree he is pretty good, especially the way he reads the game and tells you whats about to happen

So many times you hear the studio based commentators pretending to be at the game but then saying "over in Perth" or "the pitches over at Optus" it's laughable. Plenty of local sports commentators able to do the gig, but they think we all prefer these former cricket "celebrities".

Hopefully the furore will make Fox fly over their commentators for the final. Come to think of it just leave Mark Waugh in Sydney and lets have Hussey and Gilchrist

Bring back the great Dennis Commetti as a one off for the final. Even at his age, he'd still buy and sell the current crop of commentators.

Wouldn't that be a treat. Dennis was a very good cricket commentator back in the day but obviously better known for the footy.

Yes, from memory he started in cricket on the radio Mike then transitioned across to footy a bit later. I could be wrong but that's how I remember it.
