From what I've heard, the players who don't get a game for these 'Tac Cup" style sides will drop back to their WAFL club of origin and play in the comp we currently know as the colts.

That is if the colts comp still exists underneath this so called elite comp.

Thank you La Hincha for your most informative commentary on this very important issue facing the WAFL Clubs...
I suspect there are going to be massive changes to the Colts competition based on your source of information and we are rooted as competition if this happens. RIP WAFL....

It wont be financially viable for WAFL clubs to run the colts anymore, its expensive.

That's my feeling also.

Although ammos sides have colts teams on a tight budget and maybe that's an option

Yeah , but they don't have the overheads of WAFL clubs that are trying to keep 3 grades going with all the costs, plus run big grounds.

Well, I think the proposal is too destructive and for a very small return. Maybe an extra 1 or 2 draft picks a year for WA.

With 10,000 or so people still going to the WAFL on a fairly regular basis, another 10,000 listening on radio, watching on 7 or following on the net plus another 20,000 who watch on 7 but only have a passing interest...it's just not worth killing that off...not for an extra draft pick or two per year...doesn't seem logical....the rewards have to be massive if the damage caused is also massive

I agree mate, but this monster and its steam roller has been going since 1987. I cant see it stopping and with every year the interest and obsession with the two local AFL mobs just gets more obsessive.

No Colts, No Reserves then you don't have a club or any culture. The only way the WAFL would have remained strong is through community support. My opinion is that support is gone and won't ever return.

I agree mate, that's where we are at.

We need to look at other options for some sort of survival going forward.

I'd love to know the number of boys aged between 13-17 we had playing juniors in 1987 when our population had just topped the 1 million mark as compared to today when we are about to hit the 2.4 million mark
