Most of the crowd in attendance travelled from Swans and we definitely outnumbered them, I overheard a Peelmantle fan saying to his mate "Gee this is the biggest crowd we have had this year" An indictment on their fraudulent club.
This is a fraudulent comp too and any flags won by Peel or ERT are null and void in my book. Fast losing interest in even giving a fuck anymore. Like Harding said at 3Qt "this is a huge quarter coming up for a community based club" showing what he and the majority think about it other than a few delusional Peelmantle fans and Roygals fans if they have any remaining. Wont be attending the league GF this year for the first time if SD or WP are not in there. I will hopefully be celebrating an SD Colts and ressies flag, a true reflection on a successful club
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

With the Eagles and Dockers travelling reasonably well at this stage of the AFL season can only imagine those at HQ are head over heels in love with the alignment. Any opposition to it at this moment in time will be falling on to deaf ears as they spruik how great WA footy is at the moment. The number of kids drafted out of WA this year might suggest otherwise.

DW, Not sure that the alignment is impacting colts level, yet, EP seems to have the same number coming through with good representations in state squads, as does Swans.

It would be an interesting thing to ask the boys but not me, I get in enough manure without that!

Any thoughts?

Whilst I am gutted over the loss, the Swan Districts Football Club, players, members and supporters should be extremely proud of our performances yesterday in all three grades. For all the supporters of the host club alignment have a long hard look at where Peel is located in the reserves and hang your collective head in shame.

I watched the match and was supporting Swan Districs. The coverage was fine in my opinion, but a small crowd and a cow paddock certainly took away from the feel. I would say the match never reached any great standard and the AFL talent lifted in the last quarter to win the match. Jukes was a highlight in the match for me. Very talented boy, Swans can really produce exciting players.

Well Said

This is brewing as a perfect storm for probably they worst WAFL finals series ever.

Both AFL clubs are flying higher than ever, there will almost certainly be a Derby final in Perth, either way both teams will dominate local media coverage, with zero oxygen for the WAFL.

Worst still both Eagles and Dockers reserves will take part in the WAFL finals, first time for that, neither will attract any interest, throw Subi in the mix and you are looking at record low attendances and interest in one of the most lacklustre finals on record. a Peel v EP Peel v Subi GF will possibly break last years low attendance record given all these circumstances.

Meanwhile the WAFC and footy public and blind sided by the two local wipearse mobs being top of the ladder.

Scratch a bit deeper and you see lowest ever draft rates from WA, declining Junior participation, broke local clubs and AFL media rating dropping 9% nationaly.

Spot on, TV coverage was fine, but the atmosphere was non existant and the oval was appauling, what is clear is that the mandurah dockers will most likely end up playing their games at the new Cockburn Facility, I cant see them risking players on that shit surface when they have a bowling green sitting up the freeway, would get a bigger crowd at cockburn as well.

Leaving most of the other stuff alone but looking at participation rates, do really think that it is about the AFL, WAFL, TV coverage or is it just the community and the way kids are brought up!

It seems to me that we are developing into being watchers not participators especially from 14/15 onwards.

I see most kids and more adults just wanting the quick excitement not the 3 hour version, look at test cricket (which I find as boring as grass growing but ....). Are we trying to fix an issue bigger than WAFL like drugs and violence.

How do we make it an interesting concept and participation process for children and adults, what do we offer or do we leave alone and hope that common sense and the need for physical competition offers the fix.

No one produces talent like Peel a few really exciting young players that caught my eye yesterday were Blakely, Hughes & Lawler I will have to check the Budget to see what part of Mandurah they are from but gosh they do an outstanding job down there in developing Mandurah youngsters!!
