Hey mate, thanks for checking out the site, did you use the links I posted...

What I said is correct, they scored 3352 in 21 games in home and away season, 3571 in full season which included 2 finals, ie 23 games

Grassy: We beat Claremont on an Easter Monday after they had had too many chocolate eggs. As you know, one should keep in mind also that, when the Bulldogs beat them, Claremont had led all day and did not kick straight -- 13.17. In other words, the Tigers could have easily won twenty games a feat never achieved in the home and away season.

I don't think 6 players from the one side have ever kicked 50 goals in the one season other than that mighty Claremont team of 81...if only modern day coaches could take a leaf out of that sides book, goals win matches not the boring defensive stuff of today's footy!

Remarkable year 81, not just for the Monts but for the whole competition much of which will never be seen again at any level of footy.

Apart from the eggs, Jimmy Krak and Malaxos didn't play that game and the very under rated Fussell got the better of ralph, D.Lamb stitched up Phil K and Reeves didn't do a bad job on farmer although the did get away a few times. Malaxos was again missing from the next clash between the two teams in their 35pt win where Jimmy K kicked 5, but he was back for the final 99pt drubbing bagging 8!

DG: Yep, Fussell had a good year that that season, it is a pity he got such a bad injury. Also that day, Jeff Murray had the better of Graham Moss all of which added up to a comfortable win on the day.

The frustratting thing from Subi's point of you, in terms of making a genuine bid for the finals was that we strugglled to win more than two games in a row.

I have always said 1981 was my favourite football year and this topic has only confirmed it...oh for that style of full on attacking footy to come back in vogue...one day!

You are awfully Resillient for a Supporter of a Club, whose season finished in a terribly disappointing way.I can honestly tell you,I'd be saying from your position,1981 was a Shit of a Season and Winning in '82 was one way of wiping the misery of the previous season, off the face of the earth.

Yep no doubts Grassy but I did out line that earlier in the topic re missing too many guns like Richo, Smith, Williams, Solin, Shine, Holmes et al at the business end of the year and we had to be near full strength against powerhouse teams like CL & SF of the day.
At the end of the day I can look at the bigger picture and that season had some of the most scintillating football ever witnessed in this great state of ours and has long lived on in my memory...the seasons 77-86 were great days we were all fortunate enough to see...and then in 87 the landscape changed forever...unfortunately! :(
