I said to a Swans' director that if the changes go ahead then there should be a motion put at the next General Meeting of Swans to disband. A quick death is preferable to a slow lingering death. Why would anyone bother to try to flog the proverbial dead horse when you know there is no point.

This is definitely my last post for tonight. Good evening.

Tradition is greatly important for u and the reluctance to change is massive.

The wafc is going to have one hell of a shit storm to try and enforce the changes on the wafl. My bet is one hell of a stand off with east Perth threatening to pull the pin on the alignment.

I didn't know any of this before.

A simple question that doesn't require you taking one side or the other on the review. It relates to the actual review process. How can BCG recommend that a continuance of the host club alignment without determining whether the clubs in the alignment?

Surely if that is the case it brings into question the quality of the review?

I don't know much about the alignment and the agreement etc, but I don't think u can question the expertise of the mob that did the review.

Pretty sure the wafc got the best in the business to get the job done.

Unfortunately for the WAFL continuing down the same path as they have for the last few decades will only lead to the competitions demise. The WAFL clubs can not continue to live on half million dollar handouts each year. As WAFL supporters we must take our blinkers off and realise that the business model must change and given the clubs financial positions, change quickly and dramatically.

Whilst I don't agree will all of the BCG recommendations I do believe that the ressies competition is something that needs to go. There is only 5 or 6 players who are capable of playing WAFL league on a regular basis and the rest of the players just make up the numbers. So many good quality borderline league players are lost to the WAAFL and country leagues, particularly Peel and SWFL that the WAFL Reserves comp is too diluted of talent. Clubs income will not suffer from not having the ressies as very few spectators watch it and sponsors aren't interested in supporting it. The costs saved would probably put most clubs in better financial positions immediately.

Tradition is great but not if holding onto it so tightly then leads to those traditions becoming nothing more than distant memories.

The most outspoken critics of the proposed changes will be Swans, Souths, Claremont. I would have added West Perth and Perth but I think the attitude of the boards of those clubs will be interesting.

Surprisingly West Perth have said, "won't affect them too much business as usual"
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

So exactly what do the WAFL clubs have? A league team and that is it? As for Peel what an abject failure. They had a league team made up almost entirely of Freo aligned players and could barely win a game in the ressies last year. Our current ressies' coach didn't exactly set the world on fire playing league for Swans. It is very easy to say scrap the ressies without understanding the full implications of such a move. I would also question how much do you think the ressies' cost for a WAFL club? Where do the players come from to replace injured or out of form league players?

By the way WAFL clubs would be far more bouyant and able to fully resource a colts' program if they received the expected blood money coming from the AFL to the WAFC after they have successfully done the AFL's dirty work in killing another footy competition (namely the WAFL).

Sure things need to change to be able to survive; but what has been proposed is not survival for the WAFL - it is EXTINCTION.

Yep Mate - Whole things been blown out of proportion, I thought the review was pretty light on tbh, West Perth have already come and said it wont impact them in any major way and it business as usual, that was my thoughts right from the start, what obvious is some on here made up their minds before the report was even handed out that they would oppose anything it said, now they are trying to find something to jump up and down about, s42 even suggesting his club fold, absolutely bonkers.

He will be running around with a head band on and a pair of black PJs - end up in Graylands at this rate. No wonder every media outlet in the State have banned his emails from being read out.
