BC I am continuing my self-imposed exile on this site save this very important subject that I would have though was of the utmost import for all those invested in ensuring the WAFL remains in substance and not just in name.

As for your pathetic and puerile comments such as "run out of cooking sherry" I am well and truly over them. If it amuses you to continue with them, that is a sad reflection on your character. Your time would be better served in trying to join forces with those who oppose the BCG report and recommendations. As a little incentive remember that your club can't continue to win WAFL flags if there is no WAFL.

Self imposed exile, Swan mate get a grip, your no Julian Assuage or Dali Lama.

Absolutely amazing. You make another provocative statement and when you get a response, which is what you wanted, you don't like it. As I said I am well and truly over them.

That's (15's) nothing to do with colts football.

It's the lack of numbers at junior level.

This is the real problem in WA.

Work on fixing this, and it is a long term fix not a short one, and the results will improve.

As it stands and with many others including JT, already clarifying, there is nothing wrong with the colts.

Soccer is killing the pig participation wise,

6 to 16 Soccer is rated number 1 team sport in the country 49% playing it.
AFL rates at No 5 with just 17%

Bazz & BC, it's pretty obvious S42 uses Ozfooty purely to push his own wheelbarrow on political issues and causes. We might say that is a sad reflection on him. Get a life Swanny and lighten old boy.
Get on your bike.
It was Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.

yep...agree LH. I don't think the Colts competition is the issue...it's further upstream than that. In my own experience junior teams are folding at a rate of knots. My son played for Melville Junior Footy Club year 12 team only 2 years ago and I'm now led to believe they can't field a team...so where's all the kids that should have come through from the lower grades? as Bazza said...gone to soccer or given it away completely. the AFL/WAFC should be focusing on participation rates at junior clubs and not worrying about fixing a Colts comp that ain't broke.

Most WAFL clubs are broke and rely on external funding- Clubs are forced to cut corners.

I am not aware of any WAFL colts team that is better resourced than its league team.

This talent pathway is not much different from what is occurring here in the West, as you say tugger I would guess the SANFL clubs would get a bigger slice of the pie from the South Australian Football Commission so as they are able to do more within their means....
Thank christ one stae has the balls to stand up to the AFL juggernaut....

Yes Dwert, but the WAFL as a whole can not get their shit together, arguing over AFL host clubs, tradition v change, lets kick peel out, broadcasting rights & advertising - RE WP last year. Would you invest more money into them atm given the current state?

So on that basis Tugboat why then didn't the BGC review focus upon the governance and leadership within the WAFC and the important role that it plays in WA Football in this state?

Tugboat and or Bazz can you answer my last question?...

Gloede needs to be moved on by the Council of Presidents he is toxic and smells too much like WAFC, they would be best advised to get an independent support person(Government? Private?) to advise on how best to navigate their way through this situation. If I was a WAFL President I would be asking for a delegation from the South Australian Football Commission to advise how best the WAFL clubs can maintain their identity , culture and history in the face of this power grab by the AFL masked in this BGC review...

La Hincha wrote: What I mean by that is for example...if me and Bazza visted every Balga SHS classroom with registration forms and asked the kids to consider joining, take the form home and get it signed, I bet it would get a lot more players involved. Training one day a week at school and one day a week at the club ground. Make it as easy as possible for the kids to join and get involved.

Balga SHS is just an example...there are many high schools where a partnership might be valuable

I think it's a bit more complex than that Ben...socio-economics comes into it when a parent from say Balga using your example has to find playing fees, money for boots, mouthguard etc it becomes a disincentive...also the demographic has a fair bit of bearing where migrant youth born in other countries wouldn't look at playing footy as their first choice...so you would have some success no doubt but I think the amount would vary depending on where geographically you were targeting.

I agree with you 110% on Gloede , he was a bad pick to start with , complete AFL sycophant that has zero interest in issues that face the clubs, his primary concern is back slapping all the crew in the WAFC Subi box.

Another thing about his is he is from another era, he thinks Aussie Rules in booming in juniors and soccer is a minor sport - he is so out of touch its not funny.

Spot on , the migrant kids in that area are from Africa, Middle East and China, and they are all about soccer.

The same is happening on a massive scale in western Sydney , the AFL can dream all the like about GWS, but its not even on the radar out there. Its all Soccer.
