And while we're on it - why any worthwhile reporter would ask a footballer ,who was born near the end of arguably the best era ever of footy and not even Sandgroper , about plotting charter of it's grassroot destruction is beyond me.

Without the WAFL & SANFL clubs these current players would not exist , this generation was borne out of these leagues , Pavlich himself even

Unreal

There's that answer

Southerner, I don't understand your logic. What has the price of beer and food at AFL game got to do with getting people through the gates at WAFL level.

How much does a party of four spend at a VFL game? They're not coming to WAFL games after that slug

There are currently 118 players from the WAFL/WA on an AFL list and that includes a majority of the Indigenous excitement machines...no wonder the AFL want complete control. WAFL clubs have done their job too well it would seem and now the AFL/Sheehan and the messenger boys, who sell themselves out to tow the party line, are ready to kill off the WAFL clubs.

Normally, it is accepted to wait until death before burial.....apparently not anymore....not in the eyes of the WAFC/AFL

Don't fall for the AFL propoganda!

The WAFL has delivered in spades...not to mention the vast sum of money we put in when the WCE entered the comp to bail out struggling VFL clubs....above and beyond the call....

Much like the local cricket comp in the metro area....produces great players but nobody watches.....Perth folks don't want second tier sport period...but that doesn't mean it's not quality

Perhaps we shouldn't blame the AFL, Victorians, Channel 7 or Foxtel. Local is TOO DEAR. Its a bit like movies. The ancillaries are TOO dear.

Moreover, having been through this in cricket, if I was a WAFL rep, I'd be examing the options with the court of arbitration for sport.

You'd be surprised how empathetic they are to those who don't have greed and self interest as a priority.

The reason why I made my original post was to highlight to all those who want the WAFL to exist and it can only exist is if it is a similar format to what it currently has in terms of the 8 historic WAFL clubs with a league, reserves and colts teams.

I don't know whether the rumour is close to what will be announced but I think there may be some foundation to believe it based on who made the comments to me.

Fundamentally if the colts is removed from the WAFL clubs then that will be the end of the WAFL. In my opinion if the rumours are true then the WAFL clubs need to impose their will on the WAFC and lobby the WA Government.

One of the best ways that the WAFL can fight back against the WAFC would be to tell them in no uncertain terms that the changes are not acceptable and if they are not withdrawn posthaste then none of the G7 clubs will play against the two host club WAFL clubs. No ifs, no buts.

There also should be a memorandum from the G7 WAFL clubs that the members of the WAFC are persona non grata and are not welcome at any WAFL function and that they will be required to pay their $15 entry if they wish to attend any WAFL match.

The gloves should be well and truly off for this fight as the very heart and soul and its existence will be lost if we lose this fight.

As for M Pavlish's comments it is my understanding that his father played something like 200 games in the SANFL. I wonder whether M Pavlich would appreciate it if someone described his father's career in the SANFL as just a hack player playing in a non-entity of a footy competition and the fairest and best winner wins the margarine (sic) medal. It is without doubt a complete and utter disgrace from someone who obviously knows nothing about the WAFL and its history.

Some of them do go FO every week like me without giving away too much information. The others have young kids and their sport is played on Saturdays which makes it difficult in this era whilst some have their own sport on and or lifestyle hobbies. We are all planning on having a sip at a Swans game together we can all attend later this season.

Costs an absolute mint to go along to a VFL game especially here in Perth, hpw whole families afford it all season has me stuffed, but and here is the big but, people are pepared to pay it. Wafl offers a cheaper product but cant get them in.

You see this is where the lines are deliberately blurred & skewed - it's the WAFL's fault because it should have been restructured
Young kids need to be inducted into WAFL (as they always have been) ranks via the applicable zone into respective clubs , they need to understand club cultures & values , gain unique skills & mentoring from what is known at these clubs , etc etc etc
At some point the VFL has to understand you cannot just raid 4 or 5 kids minimum a year & then just abandon & disregard the garden , and expect it to just magically regenerate annually

Unfortunately we are well and trully outnumbered, with roughly 6-7k going every week to WAFL our voice is too small and will be drowned out by the AFL juggernaut and I don't believe any huffing and puffing will make any difference to what is going to happen to our comp unfortunately :(
