A question for Ric from Waflfootyfacts of interest what is the playing records (win/loss, finals record- how many years of finals played, how many years missed finals, wooden spoons) etc of all clubs since the WAFL landscape changed forever before the 1987 season?

I have the win loss records since 1987 on my Ladders > Periodical Ladders page

waflfootyfacts.net/ladderperiods.php#20

But here's the Win loss records per club for that period
P W L D
Cl 631 399 228 2
EF 623 326 296 1
EP 618 299 315 2
PT 381 89 292 0
Pe 593 192 399 1
SF 619 337 281 1
Su 641 393 246 1
SD 617 293 319 3
WP 625 334 286 3

Interesting to note Claremont need 1 win for 400, East Perth 1 win for 300, Perth 1 loss for 400 since 1987.

Premierships since 1987
Cl 7
EF 3
EP 3
PT 0
Pe 0
SF 3
Su 7
SD 2
WP 4

Runners-up since 1987
Cl 7
EF 3
EP 3
PT 0
Pe 0
SF 5
Su 6
SD 1
WP 4

I'll get you the other stuff later, need to research those as don't have them readily available

Grassy just waiting on Ric to comeback with the finals results as well but it was mainly to show how dominant 2 clubs have been over an extended period (30 seasons this year since that fateful time they formed the dodos).
30 years is not a short period of time at all and 14 premierships between the 2 clubs with the smallest supporter bases plus barely missing a finals series between them in that same time is another major reason traditional WAFL fans have become completely bored and fed up with it.
No slight against Claremont they have a good zone and develop their own kids superbly from the develop squads up to League and well we all know the real reason the other mob are constantly up there despite the blinkered view of their own deluded supporters on here.
Take out the Dodos & Dorks strengthening the former EP & Peel respectively and you have 4 clubs who have been barely competitive in that time, 3 clubs in SF, EF & WP who are reasonably consistent whilst the 2 from the Golden Triangle just completely dominate.
You would think the governing body looking at those statistics would be attempting to even things up just a touch but not our WAFC who believe there is nothing to see here all is just hunky dory out there in WAFL land!

Finals records since 1987

P W-L-D (years in finals / % of all finals played)
Cl 42 24-18 ( 20 / 50.6%)
EF 33 17-15-1 (16 / 18%)
EP 28 16-12 (15 / 21.5%)
PT 2 0-2 (1 / 100%)
Pe 4 2-2 (2 / 4.9%)
SF 30 15-15 (16 / 24.8%)
Su 52 27-25 (22 / 48.6%)
SD 27 9-18 (14 / 43.5%)
WP 34 15-17-1 (15 / 26.6%)

The % represents the percentage of finals played by the team since 1987 compared to all finals played by the club. Eg: Claremont have played 83 finals, of which 42 or 50.6% have been since 1987.

The competition has never been even: up to 1980 three clubs won the premiership more than 50 per cent of the time. The last Subiaco colts premiership was 1989; people should make of that what they will terms of whether the club has needed to import players to stay competitive.

That's a good stat gtrxone. Also if you take the 11 seasons from 1963 to 1973, every team snagged at least one in that period too
Swans 63, Claremont 64, EF 65, Perth 66, 67,68, West Perth 69, 71, South Freo 70, East Perth 72, Subi 73. The comp was far less predictable in those times

gtrxuone -- yep, agreed; I would also add the 60s to some extent too because of Perth and SD, together with Claremont sneaking a flag.
