As for beating one's chest over being the 5th best side in that 87-now period when the 3 year period 99-01 as Freos Ressies significantly boosted the W-L % I would think you should actually be bowing down to the FFC & the SFFC board (Bazza is the same guy that was bagging both the SFFC President & CEO over the last couple of years relentlessly) for bending over and becoming the FFC bitch instead of bagging them relentlessly as you do as without that time period your figures would be no better than a SDFC who's board (significantly I might add) havent folded like a deck chair on a P&O cruise ship!

I believe Marshall wore number 17 when he played for us mate the same number left vacant by the retirement of Melrose in 83.
On my favourite player of all the recruits hmmm gee that is a tough one mate ..Melrose & Neesham from (EF) were champion players, Marshall (S) was at times exciting with his brute strength and skill, Johns (S) & Kimberley (P) were real favourites as they always gave everything, Allen (EP) was injured most of the 2 years he was with us before heading back to Bulwer St, W.Simms (P) knee only lasted a short time, Lethal Leigh Brenton had a very good 83 season but eventually headed back to Moss St, Hetherington (EF) was another honest trier who I liked because he was very consistent he played in our 90 flag as well. Brett Farmer (C) was one who didnt fire a shot after a few sensational seasons at the Tigers.
After all of that I would have to say Tony Solin (SF) would be close to it as unlike the others he was hardly heard of before coming to Basso and ended up having a cracker of a career with us and his nullifying job on Warren Ralph in the 83 GF when Mullooly was unavailable with an injury was a performance many Black Ducks fans will never forget ..Ralph was a goalkicking machine at the time!

Bh my memory of Ken Marshall was the 84 final series.We where thrashed in the 2nd semi by Efreo.In the prelim Claremont lead by over 5 goals in the second qtr.That prelim was one of the great WA Footy matches.Boucher came on the ground in the last qtr and the Claremont players went TROPPO,trying to attack Roo.Can remember Marshall having a belter prelim + gf in 84,
