Took a walk down the Old Perth Road Basso strip a couple of weeks back with the missus. A couple of funky cafes now operating, a decent little bar now down by the shopping centre, with more stuff to come around the oval outskirts in coming years. I'm even moving back in to the suburb after 22 years by the beach such is the positive change in the area. Place is on the up lads....they even held the state game there :P

I have been going to Bassendean since I was a little tacker, nearly 50 years ago. Quite often I have been at the ground with opposition supporters decked out in their team colours. In all that time I have not come across any bad behaviour than I haven't seen at other WAFL grounds. Whilst I find any behaviour that exposes kids to abuse repugnant, every club has its ratbag supporters unfortunately.

Beasley Hutton wrote: Interesting comment on the SD Indigenous boys vs WA 16s game sight unseen Freeze a good spectacle and no 16s boys were hurt FYI
Just for your sake seeing as tho you have been so eagerly concerned with this fixture the Swans senior boys to play were only Riddoch, Dean, Wilson, Ansey & Stack with a few Colts boys in Stewart, Yorkshire, Price & Hodder. The rest of the squad that PLAYED yesterday were made up of boys from the SD Year 11s & 12s. Many of our indigenous boys at the club were unable to play in the game. A good chance for all our boys to have a bit of FUN playing as a group together and to show the flair the guys are well renowned for. FYI we also provided about half a dozen to the WA 16s side who have some good kids in that group. Anything else you would like to know about this particular game that has pretty much fark all to do with you or your club freeze? ..as some might sadly believe there to be an undertone to your posts about it that suggests some underlying bias anti to the BLACK & WHITE!

yep fair due BH....but TBH mate my undertone is on par with your maroon n gold undertone mate....so I guess we all have our vices mate....I enjoy the banter with you SD boys....you provide a biased positive selective view on your club and all I try and do is keep your feet grounded by providing an opposite negative selective view....you call it an unhealthy obsession yeah true, but no more or less than yours with BC and TSOG footy club....as mikeh rightly said just deal with it mate and move on. The day I stop being negative about SD is the day you stop being positive about them mate....all part of the banter circle of life ;)

Good to hear the game was a good one and all n sundry have fun...as for those SD u/16 boys no doubt like Clancee, Ethan, Lewis and Connor they must of all found it very stressful and hard donning another colour besides the beloved Black/White stripes mate  ....

you sound like a fair and reasonable sort of person mike but I think a lot of you SD guys need to take your collective heads out of the sand in regards to your supporter base...it has large sections that are feral. I recall on FG a female calling herself Bundygirl came on and bragged about how she was a part of the "Abuse Crew" which took great pride in ripping into anyone who wasn't a bogan supporter. Even DW I think it was from memory posted a few months ago how he was disgusted with the language coming from sections of the McDonald Stand. I don't go to Basso for very good reasons and I can't say the same about any other ground.

And yet BC you tolerate and excuse what was the most disgraceful behaviour ever witnessed by myself at a WAFL game in 36 years of following with the bashing of the poor innocent Claremont supporter just cheering on his team to a thrashing of $ubii in a final a few years back now by your very own flag waving fan ..hmmm  :S

you obviously haven't read earlier comments on this subject by myself and outerseagull BH...the word "provocation" comes to mind.

so you think winning by 22 goals is a good look for interstate footy do you SD? what was actually achieved? does that result promote the WAFL or does it reinforce the fact that the big 3 states are vastly superior to Tassie and the NEAFL which we knew already and confirm they shouldn't play each other? the only reason you've got a stiffie is because it was played at bogandean and you get the bar takings which I hope is spent on general maintenance going by what outerseagull said about the dunnies and vision last week of your game against Perth where pickets are falling off the boundary fence and the place looks in disarray. instead of spending time on here posting crap how about organizing a busy bee at the club.

How would you know anything about Bassendean Oval?? You haven't even got the guts to go there you weak pr1ck! And I was told today that its a WAFC game so takings on what was sold is split, which is a shame because $ubi shouldn't get 1 cent - only the G6 WAFL clubs should get any of it

and here's an excellent example mike of the type of supporter SD attracts. because I choose not to go to bogandean I get called a "weak prick". In my earlier I didn't resort to personal abuse and he also says I don't support the WAFL in another post. Well let me tell you I've been supporting Subi for over 50 years...during the years when they were a joke I was there, when they were on life support asking for donations I was there, when they won their first flag for 49 years in 1973, I was there...and guess what, I'm still here as a paid up member and passionate supporter. so I won't have some moron call me a weak prick and not a supporter of the WAFL when clearly that person is a first class dickhead with little class and even less brains...that's why people like me don't go to bogandean...because of the low life scum that think abusing others, using foul language in front of women and kids and getting pissed at the game is being a passionate supporter.

I was actually only 5m away from the disturbing incident and saw no such "provocation" at the time just a young fan supporting their team being bashed senseless by a $ubi fan. I know the young fellas background BC but that doesn't excuse what was a disgraceful incident from one of your very own!
