Backs up what I pointed out to that fremantle sycophant anchorman long ago that the last time this ludicrous host club crap was in existence WAFL crowds went backwards & have been on the upward curve since it was abandoned!

Yeah, the WAFL slowly but surely got back on it's feet. The late 90's and early 2000's were tough years.

It seems unfair, that after what you would call a "fine come back" by the comp - firstly after the entry of Peel which set things back, and then the host club situation of the early 2000's, we have to again find a way to fight back and do it all over again.

I feel that Peel will probably get bigger crowds. They couldn't get any worse put it that way. They've been a burden on the comp from day 1, bringing down overall attendance numbers and losing most matches. At least that will change.

But East Perth are going to be a problem for the comp from here on. It's hard to get my head around how we can compete with them from 2014. We probably can't!

Still, I'm not giving up. I know the high quality of players that are coming through at Subi in 15's, 16's, 17's and colts and I'm confident we'll at least give the East Perth Eagles something to think about in the next 5 years. Will be tough though of course - but we've all got to find a way to lift our standards and compete with them. We've got no alternative but to try.

Sadly the writings on the wall for wafl, 22,000 people turned out for NAB cup crap tonight , which was a far bigger crowd than WAFLs marque game the WAFL grand final ...

It's up to us if the WAFL succeeds or not.

If you want 6000/7000 at every game again, well it can't be that way - but we can increase the numbers slowly like we did between 2003-2011 and get from 2,070 up to 2,500/2,600.

When the average was down around 1,400/1,500 per game people said it would never get to 2,000 again yet here we are with 2,000 plus.

Figures are for the qualifying rounds and do not show the Finals Series.

I can place the attendance figures for the 1995 & 2000 seasons at a later time.

I think the attendances will be well down this year and will be in a steady decline from here on in unless we can attract the younger crowd to the games - How we do this is the 1 million dollar question ???

Yes exactly Chopper. If one asks the younger ones nowadays about the wafl, they just give a blank confused look. As if to say, Wafl? What Wafl? What's that?

That's right and West Perth showed that it can be done when they had their multi-cultural day last year which attracted 6,064 people.

The concept was laughed at by some initially but it worked.

We need more ideas like this. Unfortunately most clubs don't try anything at all.

Yep and that's what we're up against - They don't even follow a team - So it's going to be bloody hard to get them there in the 1st place !!!

The players could go to schools and do some PR like they use to in the old days and cause they're not the Eagles or Dockers none of the kids would give a shit !!!

The local Community Papers must start to give the WAFL teams more coverage and get in the local residents faces a bit more ??? Not that the kids would read the local papers I guess ???

Yep that was a brilliant result for the Munchers Ben - Hat's off to them for that - I had to look at the attendance figure twice when I saw that last year.
