Can WP go in to an arrangement with Ch 9 to broadcast Joondalup home games if Ch7 refuse to televise WP games because of this jumper malarkey.???

Winger wrote: The sponsorship deal with Channel 9 was finalised two years ago. Channel seven have no right to tell any of the clubs who the they advertise on their jumpers. I know they will have a permanent camera on the scoreboard so the Channel nine logo will not be in vision. If I was Channel nine I would have their logo painted on the field with logos on the goal posts if games are televised from Joondalup. I brought this issue up when the Channel seven deal was first brought up so why now is seven bitchin. At the AGM the members we told in uncertain terms that the Channel nine logo will stay and so it should. I wonder how Baz and big Den feel about this issue.

wow channel 9 did a deal 2 years ago wen the abc had coverage rights and then it was up for grabs after that

wtf was the commitee thinking
good luck from now on ya gonna need it

Geelong are sponsored by Ford, AFL sponsor is Toyota. Not seen as a conflict of interest.
However, Cats partnership with Ford began in 1925 (longest sporting sponsorship in history)
West Perth's deal with Nine News is in its infancy.Although in place before ABCtv pulled the plug.
Channel Basil would be very precious considering the rivalry between the two TV networks.
The sponsors and clubs are paying the production, technical facilities and crew costs as these are outsourced from third party providers and freelance operators. Any extra commercials, other than partnership sponsors in the coverage would appear to be profit for Seven.
So what's the fuss?

Agree Red and Blue it is a load of shit. For crying out loud the ABC is not allowed to advertise yet at every sporting even including WAFL the sponsers signs are everywhere. So why didnt the ABC make the clubs cover all sponsership signs? Yeh because it is ridiculous. All the other club sponsers paying 7 BECAUSE there signs and jumper logo's will be seen?? Definately not!!! We are looking at 100,000 a year from 9 which in the context of WAFL clubs a huge income.

Lets be honest I dont even see the 9 Logo on the jumpers at the games and when I watch on TV.. How many people do? We are interested in the Game and the players.
I appreciate Channel 9's video's and coverage.. I was wrapped when watching State of origin Rugby last year and they had the WP advertisement on a couple of times
Something the WAFC is not interested in is advertising WAFL and never have in the last few years.

So bottom line if channel 7 doesnt do WP games they are guilty of unfair trading practices I am sure a couple of other govt regulations come into practice.. I am sure the ACCC could get involved EG this is their charter

Regulating & monitoring national infrastructure
We regulate and monitor industries where there is limited competition to protect and strengthen market processes. Working with all stakeholders, we strive to ensure compliance, transparency and fair outcomes.

But having said all that the WAFC are making a mountain out a mole hill
Lets have a leadership spill and get rid of Cooper LOL..

And that is fair enough Cardy. But why oh why don't we simply replace the whole bloody commission! Surely there are decent Wafl people could step in.

Remember that WAFC is another Government department and are their to serve the people. More importantly I would like to know what was in the channel nine proposal and why was it rejected.

Yes that is true. Not sure of others views, but this government department is not doing the best for the public they are supposedly serving. Just another tax payer funded entity insulated from reality. There are still too many unanswered questions.
