Theres not much I can say about the pulling power of Subi and Claremont, all I can say is you guys might have to lift your marketing and public appeal...a commercial TV deal will hang on ratings and producers wont be showing teams that aint crowd pullers.

Putting a Subi v East Perth game on would be one to watch BC. What if they show the Good Friday game? No AFL, and maybe 5-6000 at the game to help with atmosphere? Surely the club sponsors would be loving that? And Channel 7 will be promoting the comp, something the WAFL isn't used to much. It's all good I reckon. There has already been a news bulletin on Channel 7 with the General Manager talking it up with lots of classic footage. I can't understand the negative views about it.

6PR tonight, Nick Sautner WAFC: He fell short of saying the games would be live when asked and also said no night games would be broadcast due to inadequate facilities, so what of the proposed round one season opener, live night game?

No matter what the deal is there is no way the local coverage will be shown instead of a Vicco league game that's fact , but I guess a replay is better than zip
Might have to pay more attention to around the ground scores if a TV broadcast game isn't on the radio

The game will probably be on slight delay and fill the gap between the Saturday afternoon AFL and Saturday night game. We'll get AFL from 12 noon until 3, WAFL from 3 to 5:30 then AFL from 5:30 to 9. 9 hours straight of football!

The first half of WAFL will be delayed by an hour, no half time break and second half delayed by 30 minutes. The compromise for that is we will have 75-125k football fans as a lead in to the telecast who have been watching the first AFL game. We will also have 75-125k football fans as a lead out who have tuned in to see the end of the WAFL game while they wait for the AFL to start.

That isn't even mentioning the people who will leave the tv on for the whole 9 hours just for background noise or a 9 hour bender. Thousands of football fans who don't have to change the station or search to be delivered WAFL football.

How can that not be good for the comp?

When you consider, that for a long time, people feared there would be no TV coverage, things have gone well. I am not bothered whether it is on live or not; this only happened from 1985 anyway.

What's important is that we all get out from behind our key boards, grab a couple of mates or the kids if you have em and go and watch our teams live, both at home & away matches. I'll happily join any Ozfooty regulars at any game involving Swan Districts for a beer or two, a chat and to watch the game regardless of the team you support. Shite, I'll even pick you up on the way to the game if its on my way. Open invitation there for any non-psychopaths who contribute to the banter of the Ozfooty family.

TV helps for sure but going to the games in numbers is what will give our comp real relevance and plant the seeds for its revival and sustainability. Thanks to Ch7 for picking up the WAFL but sorry, you won't be keeping me glued to the idiot box between AFL matches, I wanna smell the Dencorub when watching my team go to battle.

Spot Om mate, I like you summary, it must be a good thing...

The slight delay will be to the games advantage it means it will have a speedier presentation , no drawn out half time, gaps in between goals etc.

As you say 1000s will leave it on as background noise chattering away on a winter arvo over a few beers and people who have no idea about WAFL will be exposed., lower order sponsors that cant afford big AFL deals will start to come on board with clubs if they see their names on Ch 7 around the grounds, its really gold I reckon.

Sounds very good for 7 Barney. What $ are in it for clubs. How much of the advertising revenue will be sent back to the clubs.

All I hope for is that it pays for itself via the royalty deal that is supposedly in place despite the fact that some contribution is imposed on our clubs for this first year
Would be great if there was enough coin derived to see it expanded as needed in the future so we'll see how it goes
Of course nothing beats going to the game
