Take Note WAFC, there were two other grand finals played yesterday.

SANFL - Port Adelaide v Norwood.
VFL - Box Hill v Footscray Bulldogs.

Both leagues have been able to publish attendance figures within articles regarding the results of each game.

SANFL - 38,644
www.sanfl.com.au/news/sanfl_news/2698/

VFL - 23,816
www.foxsportspulse.com/assoc_page.cgi?cl...L&articleID=31557022

The article for the WAFL - no attendance figures, because it's obviously too embarrassing.

WHERE ARE THE EAGLES SUPPORTERS THAT YOU SPOKE OF?

Finish the alignment now, or wind the WAFC up.

"Apparently" there was 11,000 there yesterday. Which is not true.

The ground was barely 1/10th full, and in a stadium that holds 42,000, they are giving a figure that just doesn't cut it.

Yesterday was a statement. The weather will be an excuse, but the people have had it. The WAFC have destroyed it. The media don't take in seriously. The South Aussies are so far ahead and their media actually have morals. It is a disgrace the contempt shown by those in the privileged position of power, in all aspects of football in WA.

They need to sort the Eagles out and separate them with a stand alone team.

Get to an even 10 teams.

Play the GF the Saturday after the AFL, and give the players & supporters of the winning club the chance to celebrate the night & thru to the Sunday.

Play the GF at a prominent suburban ground that will fill up & have atmosphere.

Bring back balloons, the colour, the skydivers, the bands, for heavens sake anything that gives the GF day a bloody jolt of electricity!!!

Thank God for Subiaco's heart yesterday. Between EP, the AFL clubs and the WAFC, Subi had more character than all 3 of them, and gave the day a slither of dignity. In an otherwise sea of shit.

And I am not angry about EP losing, I couldn't care less. I am furious our comp is continually being eroded each year. I have had it with the lack of heart and Nesbitt can rot for all I care.

well done Lions ;)

ABC radio said 12,000 at the game lowest since 1944. I suspect that figure was fudged a bit as well..
Re subi win it brings back the old saying
A team of champions will always beat a champion team..
This message represents the official view of the voices in my head

P.s Swans and EastPerth had a crowd of nearly 12,000 at Bassendean just 4 years ago. Compared to that turn up at the GF yesterday, how far backwards have we come since the alignments ??

Im sure the spin doctors will have an answer. Gee the SANFL must shake their heads at the circus clowns that run things here. They really must laugh themselves stupid.

Jardine there would have been close to 2,000 Swans & WP fans there each to watch there respective Colts & Reserves teams playing which would have been included in the total attendance figure for the GF. Just about all of them left after their respective games finished so there would have been around 8,000 left to watch the League GF.

And what happened to all those WCE supporters who were going to suddenly turn up to the WAFL each week to watch their aligned side play or so that clown Nisbett told all and sundry to get this shit over the line. Well Twevor we have just had our lowest attendance figure in a WAFL GF in 75 years & your beloved WART were playing in it as well!

True BH very true.

On ANOTHER matter, I felt sick reading that article yesterday about the WAFL closing out Channel 9's bid to broadcast the WAFL next year. Obviously they are in bed so much with the AFL, they are already compromising their ethics by locking in with Channel AFL (7). This is a total bent commission. The fact they are not looking at every avenue is in a business sense, totally obscene.

I would have thought Channel 9 would be a better fit for the WAFL than 7, simply because 7 are locked in a rights deal with the AFL. Channel 9 would provide a clear and unhindered broadcast, and it appears that the WAFC are pretending 9 doesn't exist so they can snuggle up to 7 like a pathetic puppy.

And the ABC are pulling the pin over $800,000 a year?? I cannot fathom how in a multi billion dollar football industry, those at a higher level cannot find the funds to keep this priceless broadcasting tool available. If not for the WAFL itself, but for the recruiters and general betterment of producing and finding talent. Maybe the AFL can use the $1.5 million they pump into the Canadian womens league. Oh wait, that wont happen.

Spot on BH, we arrived just after the start of the colts 3rd qtr and congrats to the swannies boys on their win, Good crowd of around 3k for that game, swelled to around 10-ish by the end of the ressies, then many of the Joondy Swans and Claremont people left. I think maybe 8k there for the league. Many will say it was the weather but I can clearly remember the 2003 GF when Subi played WP in equally atrocious conditions and there was I think 21k there. So the weather cant take all the blame. Yesterdays crowd was imho 75% Subi & anti alliance supporters, very few Ferals.

Listening to ABC sportstalk Saturday morning, they asked for Feral supporters to call in about the alliance & the GF, only two brave souls had the balls to call in and both hated the alliance and what it had done to their club and that a GF win would be a totally hollow victory. That goes on the back of sportstalk quoting that the EP attendances this season are down 19%!!

Then we hear that the SANFl get 38k and the VFL 25k to their GF's. There is no spin that can get the WAFC out of the mire they have created.

Jardine, well said.
I feel for you.
This alignment needs to be fixed now, the comp is dieing.
WCE stand alone is the only answer but the rules need to ensure equalisation for all Clubs.
I can't see that happening.

It was not so long ago (last 10 years) I can recall a GF crowd around 28-30k, I think the VFL had a similar crowd the same year.
It dropped the following year to around 22k and has not risen much since and now this.
And the VFL has dropped away as well.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog.
Winning isn't everything. It's the ONLY THING !!!!!!
I shot the fukin sherriff!!!!

The Crows in the SANFL averaged 4100 per game in their first year. Port averaged 3800. 38k to a grand final prob a lot to do with Port being their. SANFL crowds way up this year mainly because of the Crows and the extra game a week. The Eagles have got to get their own team in the comp. The Eagles AFL supporters won't support East Perth but if they get their own team they will just like the Crows supporters got behind their team.
