The attendance at the GF on Sunday is an indictment on the WAFC, the Eagles' and Dockers' host club alignment, and "East Perth". The fact that a decision was made to tape off areas of the ground, in particular those undercover in the upper levels given the predicted weather conditions, demonstrated that the WAFC were expecting a poor crowd.

The weather conditions had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the pathetic attendance; it was unambiguously due to the host club arrangement and the contempt for "East Perth". If two G7 clubs had played in the GF there would have been a significantly higher attendance.

We can expect nothing from the spineless WAFC. The only way the host club alignment can be abandoned is if there is a change in East Perth's board and East Perth tell the Eagles and the WAFC that they will no longer be a party to it. It also should be other clubs' members' responsibility to indicate to their respective boards that they do not accept the host club alignment and they will not agree to their club entering into such an arrangement. Specifically, it is a message which Perth members need to send to their President in clear and unequivocal terms. I believe that the Swans' board is in no doubt as to what the views and wishes of the Swans' members with respect to the host club alignment.

And they announced on radio that they opened the gates half-way during the third quarter. That's unheard of. They were embarrassed by the poor crowd.

Perhaps they should have the first locked in rather than locked out match. The only thing which saved them from complete embarassment was the fact "East Perth" lost.

Exactly .

These people don't even like Wafl football. There is logically no way they give a hoot about any part of it. There should be a state government inquiry into the mutilation of WA football. Surely Colin Barnett being an old Claremont bloke from the 70s & 80s must have a view. If you broke it all down in a timeline format, it would look sick enough to provoke an inquiry into the overblown & unnecessary destruction of what was a sacred WA iconic competition. Where it's at right now, the government should now ask some questions.

It didn't look good.

But please don't take the GF from Subiaco Oval.

It's the only chance these players will ever get to play on the hallowed turf.

Instead, promote the game properly, scrap the host club and charge a fair price for admission.

$35 is too much.

LaH even though I love watching games at Basso the GF should be played on Subiaco Oval and then the new footy stadium when it is built. If it is played anywhere else then we all should give up because the WAFL would be dead at that stage. I didn't mention the cost to watch the GF, but it certainly was another thing that the WAFC management got wrong. The pricing structure for the preliminary final and semi finals were also too high. How many neutral supporters were going to pay $35 to watch on paper was going to be a one sided contest.

Perhaps we should all send emails to whomever is ostensibly in charge of running the WAFL and let them know how many mistakes they have made. Not abusive emails but clear and to the point. Not that it will make any difference. When we send the emails it would be wise to cc both "East Perth" and Perth clubs as well.

We need to place pressure on "East Perth" to quit the host club alignment and also to ensure that Perth doesn't get into bed with the devil incarnate Eagles.

$35 !!!! You are kidding aren't you ? My god.

Sorry LaHincha but I can't agree. 35000 empty blue seats is the last straw. Subi Oval is a dead duck soon anyway, and those in authority won't do anything to promote it. They have killed it off with no shred of responsibility. It's that bad , the reality is there for all to see.

Jardine the underlying problem needs to be addressed and redressed. Moving the GF from Subiaco Oval will not fix the problems; what that does it ignores the problem.

It should be taken into account that the real WAFL players (G7) really look forward to getting the opportunity to play on Subiaco Oval!

A/man I notice you are logged on at the moment. Perhaps you can provide some thoughts as to what the attendance at the WAFL GF means and what should or could be done to ensure that we don't get such a poor attendance in the future.
