Hmmm as a few SD supporters in the know reported here on Saturday and now 4 days later reported in The West this morning in an apparent "exclusive"  the rumour of moving from a Top 5 to a Top 4 three quarters of the way through this season is a reality!

Only a couple of seasons back the WAFC wouldnt dock the WPFC any points despite going into administration early into the season and then paid the WP players for that season and the previous to uphold the integrity of the competition would you believe but have entertained the thought of reducing the Finals combatants from a Top 5 to a Top 4 with only 5 rounds of fixtures to play in 2021!

Fair dinkum what an amateur hour the WAFL would become if this came to fruition!

I think you will be safe BH, probably just JT doing what JT likes to do, ruffle a few feathers. How the season will finish is going to be discussed.

"WAFL clubs will tonight discuss a series of options to complete the season, including a controversial plan to drop the fifth-placed team — currently Swans — to shorten the final series.

WA Football Commission chairman Wayne Martin called the extraordinary meeting of all club presidents and chief executive officers to clarify the fixture options being considered in the final two months of the season.

The options include extending the season for two weeks with the grand final to be played a week after the AFL version, abandoning the postponed round 13 matches, splitting round 19 over two weekends or having a general bye before finals."

DD are you willing to articulate what actually will happen?

with such a deep divide between top five and bottom five i suspect they won't play the lost round.none of the sides out of the five could string 4-5 wins to knock swans out when you look at how bad they all are playing.although the missed round may impact the order of the top 5.

Absolutely spot on. Imagine getting bumped from the finals by fiat from Viceroy Martin because they can't be fkd adjusting their calendar. You couldn't make this shit up. Is this bloke running the Department of Health as well by any chance?

The last thing this comp needs is another Premier League finals series with the old cheats, the new cheats and fkn boring old Souths and Claremont there again.

Why does it require a 2 week extension of the competition to play the lost round?

AFL
So no valid reason that it requires a 2 week extension to play one round of cancelled fixtures.

Surely all clubs will be resistant to shortening the season because of the precedent it will set for future years. There is no problem with having the extra round, a final 5 and the Grand final in early October unless there is something that the WAFC haven't been telling us. Thats possible of course.
