Soopa, no surprise with that idea given he's a former Croweater, the SANFL did that for years and it was very successful as a complete stand alone fixture. I would certainly support it, that or playing on the Sunday of the long weekend which gives a day off after the GF for recovery-celebrations, like the old days when our GF was on a Saturday.

No, couldn't give a time frame because it was before last weekend so at that time it wasn't clear if footy would be off for just the one weekend or more

Heard via the telegraph this season has been extended by a fortnight? Does that mean two more qualifying weeks of fixtures? Or the finals extended? Wouldn't it be lovely for some positive clarity!

Surely they can’t change the finals structure as the season is nearly over??  Although if it’s the easy way…

Not wishing to be an alarmist, mikeh, but an East Perth official told me yesterday that the WAFC/WAFL plans to discuss this very issue this week.
Not that it will affect East Perth, but given the distinct split between the top five and the bottom five, the fifth-placed team is likely to finish with an 11-7 win loss record.
It would be cruel to be dumped out of the finals in such a fashion.
