Yep and ex Demon and Swan Ross Fitzgerald and Earl Spalding are other names thrown into the mix along with current player manager Colin Young. I've got no problems with any of those though not sure if there could be conflict of interest with Colin Young.

But that sounds like a really good mix from a cross section of WAFL clubs and that is what we want, not these high flyers and opportunists with no real understanding or attachment to the very competition that provides the best talent in the country to the AFL clubs.

It's no surprise Neale Fong has stated he is interested in nominating, probably being urged on by those geriatric WP supporters and ex players stuck in the past to make sure they hold onto their irrelevant name West Perth while they enjoy the spoils of the zone they refuse to be named after. And to make sure the taxpayers keep bank rolling them.

The way Ron was talking the underbelly characters at WAFC will end his life? Is this true?

Yep Budgie would be a good choice, seems to have built a booze empire after selling The Leopold to Coles, for millions more than he paid for it.

He was on the EFFC board for a while wasn't he? Not to sure how that went - not much to work with down there I guess.

The WAFL and the SANFL stipulated that it was a requirement that players based in their respective states were required to play a minimum of 1 state league game to be able to be drafted.

To the WAFL and SANFL credit they have ensured that they are relevant to every young player who wants to realise their dream of making it to the AFL.

Just remind me though how many mature WAFL players get drafted each year versus how many players get drafted directly from Colts?

the AFL runs the draft, the WAFC answers to the AFL.
AFL clubs want strong 2nd tier footy and want kids playing at the best level possible.
nobody outside the AFL will get a say in it.

The likes of Brian Dawson, Earl Spalding, Ross Fitzgerald & or Tony Buhagiar would be a breath of fresh air on the WAFC Commission.
Dawson & Fitzgerld also have come from the working class Eastern Suburbs backgrounds which would be a welcome change from the usual blueblooded Western Suburbs types associated at the WAFC!
They all tick the boxes of being successful businessmen and or academics whilst all having strong football backgrounds as well be it in a playing, coaching or board level experience.
Dixie Marshall also does have a footy background being the daughter of former EF player and Channel 7 commentator Arthur and an Aunty of a current WAFL player and the WAFC does need a female voice with the growth of womens footy and the WAFLW in the last decade.

Leave me out of Young, Pinner etc player managers have a small part to play in footy circles but should not be Football Commissioners, whilst Fong has served his time before, Dorrington has had his day ditto Randall!

here's a tip and this may come as a shock to you, but the AFL could not give a rats arse about the WAFL.
