Dawson & Fitzgerld also have come from the working class Eastern Suburbs backgrounds which would be a welcome change from the usual blueblooded Western Suburbs types associated at the WAFC!
They all tick the boxes of being successful businessmen and or academics whilst all having strong football backgrounds as well be it in a playing, coaching or board level experience.
Dixie Marshall also does have a footy background being the daughter of former EF player and Channel 7 commentator Arthur and an Aunty of a current WAFL player and the WAFC does need a female voice with the growth of womens footy and the WAFLW in the last decade.

Leave me out of Young, Pinner etc player managers have a small part to play in footy circles but should not be Football Commissioners, whilst Fong has served his time before, Dorrington has had his day ditto Randall!

Brian Dawson & Tony Buhagiar have connections with the two AFL clubs but that's widely known of course
with you on the barnacles being weeded out though

BH - whats this class system and Eastern Suburbs v Western Suburbs stuff you seem obsessed with? Sounds like you have a plank of Bunnings 4 x 2 on your shoulder...

To finally get some long overdue representation at the WAFC and bringing that experience and perspective of being able to see life from a different angle, give an insight into the challenges faced by the sport of football, football clubs and footballers in that area.

Life out there in the E/S is not a bed of roses like the W/S dwelling, PSA attending bluebloods that currently sit on the WAFC, none of whom would have any idea of the E/S life other than travelling to Perth Airport (technically in the Eastern Suburbs) to head over for the next junket to Melbourne and sit in a caviar filled corporate box with their afl buddies or to holidays in Southern France!

Not everyone that lives in the Western Suburbs grew up there, the Fongs crew up in State Houses, and Im stuffed if I know if they even live in the Western Suburbs.

And tbh there is a hell of a lot more to running a multi million dollar business that knowing your way around Center-Point Shopping Center, wouldnt it be more important to get someone actually qualified to do the job, perhaps theres just a dearth of those in Ashfield.

Whoever gets a gig on the WAFC I only hope they take a long hard look at Peel and the club's viability as they've not won a league game this year, have no ressies and their colts are sitting last as well. Given they still owe the WAFC $200k, surely it's time to bite the bullet and turf them out.

Agree fully BC, although I am certain the fantasy that the concept will work still plays out at HQ, ones things for certain, a future sustainable WAFL will be smaller not larger and that should mean an unviable Peel should go.

Showing your true colours again I see Bazza with some of the highlighted comments above!
The Eastern Suburbs covers a whole lot more area than just Ashfield & Midland not too mention more than your beloved Western Suburbs/Golden Triangle bubble!
From Byford/Armadale down in the South/East up to Ellenbrook/Ballajura in the North/East then into more Central/East Belmont/Morley/Cannington etc out to Mundaring/Kalamunda/Roleystone etc in the Hills/East.
Are you suggesting the likes of Dawson, Spalding, Fitzgerald et al are not qualified to be on the WAFC because they did not grow up West of the CBD?

To add to your viability argument BC the Peel League side has a fair smattering of either ex AFL rejects and PFL top ups that are not up to the mark. They also only have 5 PFL Sunday sides in an area that are way below par. The PFL have a five team comp with a top 4 playing finals WTF is that supposed to achieve.
The time is right to remove them from the WAFL as there would be "no damage done".

All good points Wright and the current funding they get from the WAFC could be redistributed amongst the remaining 8 WAFL teams.

Yeah True colours is right - your obsession of the world revolving around the eastern suburbs comes out all the time - its just a pity the eastern suburbs clubs have failed to produce any real impact on the comp for decades, Moreover - those folk you mention are qualified but where you grow up or live shouldn't be the be all and end all of selection.

What about the mighty Peel Growth Area, the dream of the WAFC for it to become the boom time area...perhaps as it turns out it was just a retirement joint after all...lol
