Cant wait for the grown up discussions around proportionate representation either. I hope Sam Birmingham is asked to apply for the WAFC CEO job, seems like the only person i have seen so far in the current debates that doesn't have his head up his bum.

Are you suggesting its the WAFL clubs who have "burned through 60 million bucks?"
This is the question everybody's asking, where does all this money go because it seems to go mostly to inflated staff numbers at the WAFC. To suggest WAFL clubs are burning through all this supposed dough that they're supposedly rolling in seems to me ridiculous.

Does that include all the AFL disbursements to WAFL Clubs?

What do you mean, does the 60 million figure include AFL disbursements to WAFL clubs? I dunno Baz, I’m asking Bullwinkle the question, where are they suggesting this 60 mill gets “burned through?”

Get your heads out of the sand. Its embarrassing enough for WA Football that the WAFL has sucked up so much of the games money over the past 20 years, you have to now embarrass yourself by asking where it went. Questions you should have been asking the insolvent club boards yourselves. WAFLsomniacs continue refusing the reality that the WAFC admin wages were also paying for wafl marketing and events, media management, talent development, umpiring, legal, management, competition operations, advertising, zone development, free tickets to the afl every weekend in a corporate piss up box, free trips to afl grand finals for club presidents and ceos and god only knows how many club bail outs. FFS it is past the time that WAFL accepts the inevitable, stops living beyond its means and stops pretending that is still relevant.

Fairly sure the bloke at the enquiry didn't perjure himself when he mentioned the $60mil figure the WaFl had churned...

Apparently there being an article in today's daily with a former sports minister from about 20 odd years ago asking questions of the so called 'football commission' which obviously followed on from yesterdays report.
What a pity former sports minister didn't raise his concerns l o n g before today's article!
Probably would have saved everyone a lot of heartache and grief, had he raised concerns a hell of a lot earlier.
The subject has been discussed on these forums (and others) for years with no positive change. I think this going to be the best chance of seeing some positive meaningful change.

If I didn’t know better I’d think you might be an amateur football officianado bullwinkle. Don’t pot the WAFL laddy because it is here to stay and will survive for the next 100 years.Your comment are inflammatory and incorrect.

And to day we read that the front runners for the board are a hugely disreputable civil servant who is currently with a government funded bailout and person who has abt as much business acumen in todays world as I do!

Surely they should be going after younger better suited people who can see the way through with new ideas and not the same old ideas and bias!
We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so stupid people won't be offended

In a way I am inclined to agree, I would to know exactly how much money the WAFL has burned on BS liked you have mentioned.

Well here we go and here is the problem. Mark Duffield has written in todays West that Dr Neale Fong and Dixie Marshall have emerged as prime candidates to be part of the new WA Football Commission.

So we are talking about a bloke that was previously on the commission from 2009 to 2010 and was chairman from 2002 to 2010, not that long ago and has already come out and said "He was disappointed in Alexander’s comments claiming they reflected badly on a lot of commissioners who had volunteered their time."

I will remind everyone including those who put this guy's name up in lights of the CCC report findings when he was WA Director of Health.

www.ccc.wa.gov.au/sites/default/files/Re...nt%20of%20Health.pdf

Here is an excerpt from the findings:

"The major issue of concern resulting from the investigation of Dr Fong and his
relationship with Mr Burke is in regard to Dr Fong’s representation to his
Minister of his relationship and email correspondence with Mr Burke. In the
Commission’s assessment Dr Fong, in his capacity as Director General of the
DOH, made misrepresentations to his Minister, DOH staff and the media
culminating in him maintaining untruthfully in his evidence to the Commission
3
that he had no recollection of any of the 33 email communications between
him and Mr Burke identified above.
Dr Fong consistently maintained that there was no personal or professional
business relationship between himself and Mr Burke, and that there were no
emails.
Witnesses have described Dr Fong as a remarkably astute person with an
immense capacity to absorb information, who has excellent recall and can
produce facts and figures as required. The Commission accepts that to be so."

And Dixie Marshall has friends in high places, these people are Perth "A" listers with a lot of powerful contacts. For me it would bring no more transparency and accountability and these people are used to handling huge budgets.

Ron Alexander is the man for me, I think he would be impartial and has already demonstrated he is not afraid to speak the truth and tread on a few toes and bruise a few ego's, the other bloke mentioned above has already defended the commission that is under fire.

I also think Colin Barnett with his WAFL background and as an economist would be very good but there maybe some conflicts of interest there. He has had a lot to say lately and I wouldn't rule out a return to politics.
Get on your bike.
It was Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.

It is spending like this that makes me want WAFL club spending included in the parliamentary enquiry. I think everyone deserves to know which club officials paid for their trip out of their own pocket and which officials used club funds for the yearly junket.
