Heatley used to destroy us i reckon he would've averaged about 7 goals a game against us and was a very deadly kick.

The reverse draft for interstate players involves a mixture of good luck and judgement. You want someone who will be a good WAFL player, but no so dominant that they get picked to play AFL. Subi got very lucky with Heatley years ago. You do run a risk of getting stuck with players who just aren't up to it, like Perth had with Juniper. Or you get one of these experimental basketballers. That said, reduced AFL lists may deter clubs from going for those types in future.

Lucky with Heatley? He and his mate Kane O’Brien came to Subi directly mate, from Heidelberg I think

Correct Frothy...he came across from North Heidelberg in 1993 and kicked 111 goals for Subi that year and then got drafted by WCE at the end of the season. We seem to be a destination club for mature age players wanting to get drafted or redrafted when you consider in Callum Sinclair, Zac Clarke, Sam Menegola, Liam Ryan, Liam Baker, Josh Deluca off the top of my head.

until it becomes official and then Cockburn decides whether it will keep paying the WAFL fee or abandon their arrangement at Mandurah - the distribution isn't concrete and there was , like BH said above somewhere , press that Victorian League club player lists were going to be much smaller next year
So there may be less to spread around if their masters release them

one thing to come out of it is that we will be having a reserves comp next year coz we'll need it

Totally agree with you Beasley Hutton players should go to their original clubs because they got them to AFL level as you also say interstate players can into a draft with bottom side having 1st pick and then in order of they finish if their are some left over after everyone has a pick the bottom side gets a extra pick

Just put all West Coast and Fremantle players in a draft. Bottom team gets top 2 picks, then the rest of the competition gets to pick in reverse order of the ladder and continue until all players have been allocated.

It will probably work exactly the same as it used to.
Funny how some us knew this was going to happen about 2 months ago.
Must be a matter of talking to WCE nicely and having a good working relationship with them.

heatley and snclair were recrutted by Subiaco
BH is right, this should not even be an issue in regards to local players; everybody on here knows, deep down, that Turnbill and Spinks should not have been taken from CL an South, respectively.

I think you are all a bit too trusting in Mr Nisbitt and WCE. I just can’t see them allowing their players to be dispersed around the league and playing against each other. Therefore I am concerned there will be some sort of alignment situation. It could end up with 4 clubs taking WCE players and the other 5 clubs including Peel, taking the Fremantle players, if their alignment ends. Surely there won’t be a mixture of players from both AFL clubs playing at the same WAFL club.
