The article also says Peel president Ross Ditchburn wants to end the alignment with Fremantle when their agreement runs out at the end of next year so it looks like it's all going back to the old way pre alignments.

if this is true and it's cost cutting then it will almost certainly see Fremantle end their alignment earlier to also save money

Good point, watch this space I guess.

I think most clubs will be stronger having somewhere between 2-5 AFL players in their team each week.

I can foresee afl lists being reduced next season as well, probably back to around 40 from the current 45 or so, that could mean another 80-100 players go back to State League footy in 2021 as well.

You could have Lewis Jetta and Jarrod Cameron playing a fair chunk for you guys next year and Connor Blakely and Tobe Watson if Fremantle follow suit and pull the pin early. Hopefully McDonald, O'Driscoll. Grainger-Barrass etc... get drafted locally.

And yes a lot of players will get squeezed out of the AFL system.

Well if that happens that will be one good thing that has come out of the pandemic. A better competition and a higher standard of State league footy due to the financial squeeze on the AFL.

Alignments and AFL Reserves teams in the WAFL should never have ever happened mate, it was bloody piss weak from the WAFC to allow that to happen not once but twice.
Has it actually really ever been beneficial for WCE or especially Fremantle?
I know one thing it has weakened the standard of WAFL overall and made a mockery of it at times.

Hah, you might have subi’s salary cap and have players coming from everywhere.
They’ll be some scrutiny on the $$ as clubs were sceptical how it unfolded this year.
