Well we were asking for an update from the WAFC and we have one, but like everything else footy is beholden to whatever the state government permits, it's out of the WAFC's hands. The difference here to the SANFL is that they have resolved player and umpires conditions, have agreements from all those and are set ready to go when their state government permits. In WA we have not heard anything like this, hopefully things are happening behind closed doors which is how the WAFC likes to operate, with zero transparency.

between McGowan and the WAFC dont expect any clarity or consistency on what is happening, just release some information which makes it more confusing and people think they have done their job.
premier can blame health reasons, WAFC can blame the govt, meanwhile kids can go to school but cant play sport and adults are ok to go to work but cant play sport and supporters can go to shopping centres but cant watch sport outdoors.
makes no sense.

I'm inclined to agree with you MO....it does seem crazy that I can go to Garden City on a Saturday and mingle with a thousand people or walk down the Hay Street mall and do likewise but I can't sit on a terrace at Leederville by myself and watch footy.

wouldnt one of the first things you would do is get kids and adults engaged in sport, especially outside sport ?
no lets get everybody to hang out in shopping centres on the weekend cos there is nothing to do after being at work, home or school all week.

The afl have banned any afl listed player from playing in "second tier competitions" for the 2020 season.
So that will be no WCE Reserves and the real Peel will have to turn out this season whenever we get the season finally underway.

I posted last week BH that I thought Peel would struggle to field a team without Freo players topping them up so wouldn't be surprised if we go back to the traditional 8 team comp in 2020. Play each other twice in a 14 game home and away season then the finals could be 1st plays 4th and 2nd plays 3rd and the winners go straight into the GF.

Good, there wont be a mid season draft where they can rape the 2nd tier comps then. Hopefully they fk that off for good

The difference is that in a shopping centre, patrons are continually on the move and when they are queuing they are 1.5m apart.
WAFL games can't go ahead without crowds,
The Crowds would need to practice social distancing while
- entering the ground
- seated or standing
- buying food or drink (4sqm per person in the bar and a max of 20)
- going to the loo

- players huddles are a no go zone
- no picking up other kids football on the oval

If the rules aren't relaxed, nor should they be, Then don't play.

The same reason why Amateur footy can't go ahead with a max of 100 people at the ground.
Do you clear the ground / premises of the colts or reserves before you let in the participants of the next game or do they prepare themselves on another oval until the prior game players etc have left. ( hope it doesn't rain )

You must not have seen the pictures of the shopping centres on the weekend or catch the train or live near a skate park.
If you reckon there is social distancing everywhere then you need to get out more.
