I agree Smokey...I guess even a reduced season starting in July with crowds present is better than nothing. You'd think WCE and Freo would have relocated East by then so no WCE WAFL team and Peel would be compromised as well given no Freo back up players so it could be an 8 team comp with each side playing each other twice....so 14 game season. That would take us into October with final 4 play offs over 3 weeks or even 2 weeks with 1 playing 4 and 2 playing 3 followed by the GF in late October early November.

I have been speaking to one player who would love to play and he reckons most if not the majority would want to play.

One issue is that there will be some who walk away if there is no play. The grass maybe better at home, in the country or just not participating.

Any qualification is acceptable as long as we ensure that we have the players and a competition.

As for the TV if the AFL does not come to play in the near future the stations will be hanging out for sport to show, look at the interest being generated in the Belorussion soccer.

Grump, I cannot see how TV coverage would be viable commercially.
Surely every game would need to be covered on a dedicated channel and the set-up costs would be prohibitive.
Foxtel wouldn't do it except maybe for the VFL, and the local networks would have to pull popular programmes to facilitate it.

Foxtel are absolutely screaming out for live sporting content at the minute as that is what its subscribers watch.
They are currently losing subscribers hand over fist with no live sport to show!

No crowds at Concerts or Sporting Events till end of 2020.
Clubs will battle financially even more so if WAFL starts.

Yes that maybe true but I think that it maybe seen as better than nothing. They and 7 did not do the broadcast before it was an outsourced WA company so it has a flow on benefit.

McGowan was asked a specific question in his press conference today about the WAFL and he said that he would be open to the idea of the WAFL resuming at some stage but not in Stages 2 or 3 which would take us through to the end of June. I notice that the NT will allow crowds of up to 500 at sporting events with appropriate seating arrangements. This will be allowable after this coming Friday. It is also possible to allow more than 500 into a venue but the sports organisation would have to develop a COVID SAFE plan to ensure a minimal risk of infection. This NT plan sounds like something that could potentially be implemented in a competition like the WAFL in July if the community infection rate is low and if the costs are able to be met.

Sneakers said contact sports can recommence in stage 3 which is mid/late June, so I assume that covers WAFL, PFL, country and junior footy. That being said, it's not feasible without either limited crowds (1000) or TV coverage of all games.

WAFL is the last Stage 4, so we won't see WAFL if at all until July at the earliest depending on crowds.
