The other thing he has had to put up with is the constant sniping by people like Lawson and other NSW commentators who are aggrieved that the entire NSW has been picked in the Australian team.

That aside mate, he isn't a test cricketer. T20 no probs

With these dustbowl, crack ridden wickets it's absolutely essential to bat first, in both cases the team who won the toss won the game with some ease. Chasing anything over 120 in the 4th innings is pretty much unachievable, so Smithy will be spending plenty of time in tossing practice before the next test .... the coin I mean B)

Why would a New South Welshman like Lawson be aggrieved if the entire NSW team had been picked to play for Aust 42?....surely you mean "hadn't" mate?

Surely another specialist batsman like Usman or bowler like Bird should of played instead of M Marsh....How many overs did Marsh bowl again?....and runs made again?...just don't understand why Lehmann keeps playing the guy....he is obviously out of his depth....just like Maddinson was...

theres only a handful of Australian batsmen over the last few decades. That could grind out a difficult run chase on that wicket.
Waugh brothers,Border,M Taylor, Boone.S Smith.Ponting.
Mitch Marsh has been thrown to the wolves. The selectors should of not played MM on that wicket.Better batting technique required over there against those spinners on those wickets.

India batted well on the third day and deserved to win the test match. We have been fortuante that the young opener has come off; the rest of the batting has strugglled a bit includding Smith. People should remember that he was dropped five times before he made his century in the last test.

We let Pujara & Rahane get away from us in the last session yesterday thus chasing 188 on day 4 & 5 on that pitch was going to be nearly mission impossible...as it was we didn't even make it to day 5!

Just watched the S.Marsh dismissal if he reviewed it he would of been still in shocking decision by the umpire missing by a fair way and apparently S.Smith told Marsh to go meaning refer it, Marsh took it as your out go, very bad misunderstanding right there, at 2 for 67 that could well be the series.

PN is either player allowed to refer it or must it be the batsman affected by the decision?

Don't know to tbh but I reckon if it was the other way round Virat Kholi wouldn't of hesitated reviewing it .

I did see on the ABC News that it appeared that Smith was trying to get external help to determine if he should appeal.
