Haha yeah that's right...in the end they had to settle for VFL Reserves duties...twice in fact!

As an aside on the net the other day there was some highlights from a SD vs ESS Escort Cup game at Perth Oval from 1979 that was great to see.

Watched Swan Districts vs Essendon at Collie in 1985. Paul Salmon was there but had plastered leg. Wife collected autographs.

Cant quite remember that one LS but I did see us play both North Melbourne & Footscray in scratch matches in Collie in the early 80s.

On the subject of pre-season matches - remember 1980 , the head honchos at Carlton & South Fremantle organised an advertised game at East Fremantle Oval

I went along & watched us smash them by 80 odd points

Carlton were one of 12 VFL clubs sniffing Stephen Michael at the time

Another player to add, and in particular in the context of the rumoured WAFC decision to remove the colts competition from the WAFL clubs, Gavin Outridge.

Jim Edmond Ko'd a few Swans players behind the play.Elbows and a few king hits.Turned into a really nasty match.Boucher didn't play his first game in 84 till late in the home and away season.Remember being at that game.
