Who are your favourite players from each WAFL club over the years?
I unfortunately never got to see the brilliance of WA legends like Farmer, Todd, Cable, Walker, Whinnen, Marshall, Robertson, Sheedy et al in the flesh being too young or not born at all at the time of their playing careers.
I found it hard to name just one but have tried to limit it to 3 from each club with one unlucky player to miss out in brackets.
They don't necessarily have to be the best just the players you enjoyed watching play footy.
My list-

SD- Phil Narkle, Leon Baker, Simon Beasley (could name another 33 players)
CL- Phil Krakouer, Jim Krakouer, Warren Ralph (Michael Mitchell)
EF- Brian Peake, Jim Sewell, Ken Judge (Kevin Taylor)
EP- Peter Spencer, Wayne Otway, David Bain (Stephen Curtis)
PE- Robert Wiley, Peter Bosustow, Bryan Cousins (Alan Johnson)
SF- Maurice Rioli, Stephen Michael, Noel Carter (Benny Vigona)
SU- Gary Buckenara, Laurie Keene, Andrew MacNish (Neil Taylor)
WP- Peter Menaglio, Les Fong, Darren Bewick (Derek Kickett)

You guys been checking out the '81 Football Budgets, that Ric has provided?

Miserable year for Perth, but still some many good memories and Laughs, with the Bull Oscar Nominations.I think Dorf Drip Of the Week started that year,if not the year after.

Always Interesting to see the Colts and Reserves Lists and Coaches as well. What's Greg Carpenter up to now,eh?He's done good,eh?

I have been reading them all during the summer mate thanks to waflfootyfacts it brings back great memories for me especially the latest edition 1981.
Greg Carpenter is now the chief handicapper at the VRC, god we could do with him back here to fix the mess in WA racing.

BH: How did you view Featherby? The man was a brillant footballer in both useless and good sides and was an expert in manoeuverring for the free kick. Did you find the last trait irritatting?

Swans went one step back, before taking the Big Step to Glory.

They were Murderous when Onsong, but could not get past Claremont and South for a combined record of 1 - 7 against the Pair.Swans should have beaten Claremont Twice, but the Tigers found a way in Round 14 and 21.

Believe it or not Grassy I reckon our side in 1981 was the best we had and we ended up finishing 3rd after losing both finals...but we didn't have much luck late in that year losing topliners like Richardson, Smith, Williams, Holden etc to injury

Feathers like a dozen players from every other WAFL side (bar my beloved Swans who I could have easily named 100) just missed out on my favourite players from Subiaco AR. He was a top quality centreman mate as big a possession gatherer as we have had in WAFL footy and was still going strong past the age of 36. Warren Dean was a player who I enjoyed watching as well unfortunately his career was dogged by injury but had a great patch from 85-88, Gees he could roost the Burley a long long way.

just on my selection of Stephan Sells, he was a brilliant goal sneak. I remember a game at Claremont -- where we had not won a game since the beginning of time, similar to most away grounds --- where, as Frank Sparrow would have said: 'he back spun beautifully out of a pack of players snapping a big six pointer', and Subi went on to win. The great thing was that, not only was it captured by channel 7, but it was part of a advert for long time, and I had the pleasure of watching it for a good couple of years. Can anybody remember it?

Also saw an interview with him on the Subi web site and his second last kick of the 1985 grand final, has apparentlly stayed with him. He said he managed to get around Colin Waterson and David Rakin was between him and the goal. In the small part of a split second, he tossed up whether to dummy Rankin or have a shot at goal, and after that he just re-called spraying the shot for a point.
