Starts tonight. Been alot of hype from the media and afl. Massive crowds planned!!! 10K+
Give me a break.

Personally not interested, just like the WBBL. Boring and lacking skill. I get they are new to the sport but if you want to be taken seriously, at least have some idea of how to play. Luckily its during the off season as people are desperate for some footy, even paying to see this rubbish.

Bring on the real stuff.

I personally think it is a disgrace the bucket loads of money being poured into trying to get womens footy up and running. The state our junior football competitions are in at the moment is diabolical with the drop off rates after Year 10 and the other options kids are choosing over football. That's where the energy and money should be going. But don't worry our auskick numbers are up. I get told i'm a sexist when I talk about my lack of interest in promoting womens football and then I say well lets take all the funding out of grassroots netball and put it into men playing netball. There is nothing wrong with women playing football, but lets not try and turn it into something that it is not and become a massive cash cow.
I did watch the womens BBL final and boy that was painful watching the scorchers bat, I have been more excited at kanga cricket.

it reminds me of the failed women's gridiron league a few years ago where sheilas running around in tight shorts were supposed to attract 40k plus crowds at games...gimme a break.

Agree, going to be a permanent drain on the AFL, cant see them making it back and time soon. Again the PC police will be all over you if your against it. Wheres 42?

The concept will live and die by the ratings. My understanding is that the Womens BBL rated pretty well this year and my feeling is that the footy will do the same. I watched the exhibition game last year and the skills were pretty good. It was enjoyable with none of the staging for free kicks that often happens in a blokes game.

I'll be watching it but if you're not interested there's always the 'off' button

WBBL rated well? Certainly didnt look like it, even in the final the WACA looked painfully bare.

The major issue is as The Rug stated, flogging a dead horse wasting money when it could be used elsewhere.

500,000 tuned into the final at some stage. That's a pretty decent dead horse there.

Ratings, I don't know how correct they are. I do remember channel 7 having the Friday night footy on at 8:30pm for many many years and saying it was for ratings, due to better homes and gardens being watched in every house in Australia. Funny how once Foxtel put it on live they suddenly changed the time. Biggest load of garbage I had ever heard. Most people I know watched the mens BBL every night after work or on the weekends, I would struggle to find a handful that sat through a whole womens match, without switching channels.
