interesting....the building of the 2 and 3 tier stand was for Subi's benefit? i could've sworn they were done to accommodate AFL games with no regard for SFC whatsoever...well there ya go....I know we've got a large and loyal supporter base but not sure we'd fill a 40,000 seat stadium. in 2010 when you won your drug tainted flag...did you stop to think it was only because of the good grace of Subi that you were allowed on the ground given they had a 99 year lease with options?
as outer said, it was our home ground for near on 100 years so why wouldn't we maximise the returns?

The VFL wasn't even played at Subiaco until 1987. The 2 tier stand was completed in 1980 and 3 tier stand in 1969 long before the WCE was ever even a thought. Now did $cumi chip in any $$$$ towards the cost of those builds even though they were the direct beneficiaries?

that's my point exactly BH...if VFL/AFL wasn't played until 1987 and the stands were built well before that then how is it/was it to Subi's advantage given the club didn't even have it's own social premises until late 60s early 70s? It's not as though the club could have cashed in on WAFL finals during that time..so why would Subi chip in for the building of the stands and upgrades during the 70s and 80s if there was little or no direct benefit back then other than a few bar sales during WAFL finals?

Did your club receive a compensation package for leaving Subiaco and moving to Leederville?

not that I'm aware of...the ferals were given social premises and other bits of infrastructure for nothing at Leederville but Subi had to fund their own. we were offered the commercial opportunity to purchase seats for AFL games the same as everyone else but it's my understanding that wasn't linked to moving away from our traditional home. i think Subi realised it made good business sense to move given the lease of Subi Oval was entering it's final years.

I unfortunately had a function to attend at the $ubi club rooms last night and I can definitely tell you that Wheeler is still around as he Twomey, Waters and a dozen other players rocked up to the car park @ 9-10pm blind after "Rookies day" they told me. A few of them then ran around on the ground in complete darkness like school kids :)

It appears that our grand final celebrations are ongoing

What did you think of our club rooms Leedy? Just for your info, we paid for them ourselves.

TOS,

Pigs arse you paid for them yourself, the tax payer through the seat allocations contributed to the club rooms. I can tell you I did leave my mark, be interested if anyone picks it up throughout the season, and I did not spend a cent over the bar the entire evening :)

What did you do, rip up the handbrake on your Nissan Micra and do a skid in the carpark? I doubt you did anything, you're all talk just like a West Perth GF backline.

what has seat allocations got to do with taxpayers? Subi pays for the seats at each AFL game then on-sells to spectators at a premium with lunch, drinks and a guest speaker included....what has the tax payer go to do with it? unlike the jerkers who are getting $8m of funding gratis from the state govt, AFL and City of Jerkalup....now that's taxpayer funds if ever I've seen it...same same with the ferals getting a free ride into Leederville and Bogandean being redeveloped. and as for leaving something behind...knowing a jerker supporter you probably did something disgusting like pick your nose and wipe it under the seat or similar.

BC our free ride as you suggest was part of the deal to give up lotons park and all that we had there so free ride is a bit of a stretch wouldn't you say!

not in comparison to Subi ...when we moved to Leederville we had to fund the building of our social premises, change room renos and everything else we have today. my understanding is it cost the club over $1m which wasn't an impost your mob had to worry about.

Did $ubi purchase the land you built those new clubrooms on?

dont think so...but I'm not aware of any other WAFL club owning the land their social premises is built on freehold either with the exception of maybe Souths. what do you blokes own outright at bogandean? a holding cell or maybe an area for a mulletorium or Commodore museum?
