the latest on in's and out's direct from the club's website....

INS

Greg Broughton (Gold Coast)

Subiaco premiership player Greg Broughton returns to the club and will be an important member of the Lions defensive group in 2016. The rebounding defender played 109 AFL games for Fremantle and Gold Coast and won the Outridge Medal for Lions best and fairest in 2008.

Adam Cockie (Sandringham)

Big-bodied midfielder Adam Cockie also decided to return home after a stint in Victoria. Cockie played for Subi in the 2008 Grand Final and starred in the Lions 2011 Premiership push. Cockie is an elite ball winner and will ease the pain of losing Sam Menegola to Geelong.

Sam Grimley (Hawthorn)

Sam Grimley joins the Lions after 62 VFL and 3 AFL games for Hawthorn. The prolific goal-kicker is a key signing for the Lions who have lost three of their best forwards (Josh Deluca, Shane Yarran & Matt Boland) over the last two years. Grimley won the Frosty Miller medal for the VFL’s leading goal kicker in 2015.

Shaquille Mckenzie (NT Thunder)

Mckenzie returns to Medibank Stadium after winning a premiership with the Northern Territory Thunder in 2015. The pacey winger has speed, skills and the ability to kick goals. Mckenzie was originally a product of East Perth FC.

Ben Sokol (South Fremantle)

Sokol joins the Subiaco Lions in search of opportunity after breaking into the league side at the Bulldogs. The rangy midfielder played 20 games for the ‘Dogs reserves side last year including the Grand Final where he collected 20 disposals and a goal.

Hayden Yarran (West Perth)

Yarran is another player searching for greener pastures after playing two seasons of reserves for West Perth. The growing forward had an impressive season for the Falcons reserves last year managing 15 games and 39 goals.

OUTS

Darren Rumble (retired)

Subiaco legend Darren Rumble retired after winning his sixth WAFL premiership with the Lions in 2015. Rumble finished on 229 WAFL games and four appearances for West Australia. The key defender retires as one of the most successful players in WAFL history.

Shane Yarran (drafted)

Electric forward Shane Yarran finally got his chance at AFL level when the Fremantle Dockers drafted him with selection 61 in the 2015 Draft. Yarran will play WAFL football for Peel Thunder this year due to the allocation agreement.

Sam Menegola (drafted)

Menegola turned heads in 2015 and was rewarded by Geelong with pick 66 in the 2015 AFL draft. The powerful midfielder has relocated to Victoria and will undoubtedly make an impact on the Cats roster.

Matthew Boland (relocated)

Matt Boland returned to Victoria for employment reasons but left a significant imprint whilst he was here. Boland kicked 53 goals in season 2014 to finish as the WAFL’s second highest scorer. Injury plagued Boland’s progress last year but he managed to turn it on when it counted. The intuitive forward kicked seven goals against West Perth in the 2015 Grand Final to win the Simpson Medal for best on ground.

Scott Worthington (Boulder FC)

High-flying defender Scott Worthington has relocated to his hometown of Kalgoorlie and will play for Boulder FC in the Goldfields next year. Worthington played in the 2011 Grand Final for Subiaco and the back-to-back successes in 2014-15.

Grimley could soon be on the out list BC........which will be a blow for you guys especially Yarren and Boland gone!Is that Hayden Yarren the kid who starred for Perth colts, left to go to WP?.....certainly doing the rounds if it is.....interesting to see how Sokol goes......talented but struggled at a weaker side in S to get a regular game......change of scenery may see his talent fulfilled.......

I'm not surprised Leedy...he was looking pretty unfit towards the end of last season and think it would have taken a huge effort to get anywhere near match condition. congrats to him and all the best. he did a great job when he came across from you blokes and at least he won a flag before pulling the pin.
