Haven't seen much of Giro but tobe watson may have been a better target imo. I think he is originally from swans zone so maybe he will line up with them. Welcome and good luck Giro

It looks like Greg Clark could be going to WCE. That would be a bummer if they bring back their reserves team and he plays against us. You'd think Schowey and Horse would have had a bit to do with that.

Will be great to see Clark get an AFL gig, he thoroughly deserves it, but WC are on the downslide and while still a chance to play finals next year wont get near a flag for at least 5 or 6 years you would think. But an aging WC list should see him get plenty of opportunities, would not expect to see much of him at the WCER.

Agreed DG. 40 years ago Legs Merrifield and Mick Carlile pulled us out of the merde financially then a series of coaches including Bunt, Bucky, Sparksy, Germo and Schoey gives us some credibility on field. We were a laughing stock when that article was written and didn't get a lot of help from the WANFL as it was back then unlike the clubs of today. These days it's certainly a good time to be Subi supporter after all the crap we went through way back when.

Agree BC , for those of us who went through those times, I never get sick of the success we are having now. Long may it last despite all the jealousy !!!

Agree whole heartedly fellas, remembering games from the 60's onwards didn't provide too much joy, a 1st semi under Spud Slater in '64 the 3 1st semi's in the late 60's under Bunts and of course the great day in '73 under Rossy Smith who put the final polish on a ready made team put together by Bunts, a 1st semi loss in '74 and then a decade in the wilderness until Bunts return and the off field turnaround by Merrifield and Co, and most importantly the off field succession planning that was set up by Merrifield, that gave us quality hardnosed business people in leading roles who had a love of footy, and the rest is history, we have been regular finalist since then and when Germo and Cheese Malone came along it changed the player culture at the club to a relentless, ruthless attitude.

Nice summary SS. The 1959? Grand final against East Perth must have been disappointing. Polly Farmer too good. Someone played with a broken foot? Rovers went down? I'm getting the stories I've heard mixed up.

I remember the Brian Douge days well though.
