TBH can't blame the kid for seeking the easier option......with the likes of Kitchen, Marsh, Clark etc in Subi's midfield is already stacked, perhaps Ainsworth wasn't prepared to wait in line with a bit part.....at Perth he will surely be front line and centre for a run in Perth's midfield......as said above, good for Perth and the WAFL comp as a whole.

I can't see us doing much recruiting with the low points allocation we have. I'm actually excited to see Vanirsen back at the club and the emergence of some of the youngsters like Johny Narkle, Breman, Jack Borchet and Dean....Golding and the Hickmotts to go to the next level. We'll also get Ryan Borchet back fit and firing which will be a bonus. Atkinson and Braut to become key pillars and Mayo to continue to get better with a full preseason under his belt.  It's an exciting time at the club and whilst an established ruckman would be an ideal recruit, go with what we've got I say as there's some great kids coming through and Wardman seems to be very good at bringing them on.

Agree BC, there is a lot of good talent coming thru including Lewis Putt and Jake South who could develop into that ruckman we are missing. South would be hoping to get drafted but if he doesn't hopefully he keeps at it with Subi as big men take longer to develop. Not sure if we will see Johny Narkle back next year as he returned to Gero. Disappointing that Ainsworth went over to the Demons, but that gives an opportunity for someone like Vanirsen to get a run if he has returned.

I'd like to see the club use what's in the cupboard player wise and not recruit outside for a year or two, as Jjim says there's plenty of quality coming through. If we did start to fall down the ladder significantly then we can consider filling any holes with outside recruits but not until we look like dropping out of finals contention. We will lose some absolute A graders over the next few seasons in Dela, Kitch and Marsh plus Clark if he gets drafted which everyone expects. 4 players who would rate in the top dozen in the comp.

We will recruit because as always there will be a big turnover of players as Wardman has stated
"I'll be the fkng sheriff"

As an aside...there's a really good 2 part YouTube video on the club's website giving an insight into the build up to the GF. Part 1 is there at the moment and it takes a look inside the rooms and how we prepared for the big one. Good viewing.

I see we've signed Stefan Giro for the next 2 seasons. Good news as he can slot in the mids instead of Ainsworth.

From the club's website.

"Stefan Giro has signed with the Subiaco Football Club to play at the Lions in the 2022/23 WAFL Premiership Seasons.

Giro departed the Fremantle Dockers in August this year after four seasons marred by injury.

He was selected with pick 21 in the 2018 AFL rookie draft. Giro played a total of 14 AFL games (10 in 2018 and four in 2021).

Although only playing four games for Freo this year, Giro’s game against Carlton in round three was a career-best; accumulating 20 possessions, eight marks and a goal.

The hard-running midfielder has elite running ability, taking out Freo’s 2km time trial on multiple occasions.

“Stef is a fantastic addition to our club and will bring greater versatility to our midfield brigade. His experience in the AFL system in addition to his running capacity, speed and foot skills will add great value to our squad and also help fast track the development of our younger guys" said GM Football Operations, Kristian Dicton.

The club looks forward to seeing the speedy midfielder in Maroon & Gold in 2022!

Good news BC,  we have never been a particularly pacy team so his speed will be very welcome.
There were a few teams after him, particularly SD, but maybe he's looked at how we have managed to get a few mature aged blokes get a crack at the AFL or back into the AFL in recent years , plus he would be looking to play finals footy as well, which all on here expect us to do next season.

Remember watching him in last game of season against Peel and thinking he was unlucky to be delisted .His pace will be handy and he is still young ,so welcome to Subi Stefan!

Think playing finals was the sealer TBH SS.....that's the last time I listen to a SD fan crowing on FB about SD signing a few ex AFL boys....I guess with how poor Subi's colts were this year, can't blame them snaffling up Giro.....
