Good result for local fans with Bulldogs getting into GF that means an extra 10,000 seats will be on sale to local fans.
I wouldn’t have minded if Port got in at least their fans could of come here and added some atmosphere to the event and filled hotels and spent some money in Perth.
Regardless it should be a tremendous event.

attendance was 58,000 so that’s as close as you get to a sell out , I saw a few empty seats in the corporate/official section, might have been WAFC life members or something that couldn’t be arsed turning up.
 

Melbourne Members snapped up all "their" 12,000 allotment, in suspect bar code swap deals.

Thought that wasn't permitted. I thought you had to be a local Melbourne member with a WA address, domiciled in WA as S42 would say, not getting Melbourne based members to sell their bar codes to WA people. Another phark up by the AFL who dont care about the locals. Means less of your average WA tax payers who own the stadium get a chance to go. Expect the same for Melbourne based Dogs members.

That's the way I see it as well SS. Total fark up, made worse by the fact that everyone knows not a single person will be able to get here from Vic due to border control.  I would of thought an easier way would be say , 2000 club ticket each to cover local members then put the other 20,000 up for sale to WA public.



 

Nothing wrong with Melbourne based members of the two sides who can’t get here giving up their membership barcodes to allow locals to fill the Melbourne and WB areas. I’m guessing they have said look I won’t ask any money but please go and buy a Melbourne shirt or scarf or hat etc and cheer on the Dees for us.

I think you'll find memberships and all that goes with it aren't transferrable but in saying that, I don't think either club will mind if they're guaranteed to get at least 12,000 supporters each to the game.

Just comes to show that Optus is too small to hold major events. Should have been 80,000 capacity. Population is only going to grow.

I guess the question is Roman is an extra $500+m it would have cost to build an 80,000 seat stadium justified when it's only filled to capacity once or twice a year?

The current Stadium design allows for the capacity to be increased to 70k for AFL games without any further major capital expenditure required.
