Not quite Dazzler, Porters case went to mediation, and he agreed to withdraw the action once the ABC agreed to pay his legal costs, admit they could not substantiate the allegations and will broadcast a correction, although the settlement did not include damages, its a win for Porter.

How on earth is that a win for Porthole? He is the one who took legal action and he is the one who has withdrawn because 1. He was unsuccessful in getting certain allegations suppressed and kept out of the public domain he didn't want to public to hear 2. The judge booted his defamation lawyer off the case due to client confidentiality and 3. He ain't got the coin to go through with it and was already touting running a GFM. What a joke that would have been.

It's a win for the taxpayer not having to waste any more money defending what would have been a very expensive defamation defence.

ABC news said the ABC the met the costs of mediation, not his legal costs. Both sides it’s fair to say are putting their own positive spin on it.

I think the ABC and for that matter the tax payer have gotten off very lightly here, their committed attempt to destroy and innocent mans career and life has all but failed but they seem to work on the basis of "throw enough unsubstantiated mud and some will stick" Obviously the sooner this unfortunate event (witch hunt) is over the better it is for Mr Porter, which is why he has taken this route.
