As for Harvey going, the Labor bloke is a local sparky, surely you would want better credentials than that.

Don't underestimate the popularity of a local sparky in Scarborough Sparky Bogun country MO. There is hardly a street through Scarborough where you won't find a sparky's van parked on the verge or the street. Probably a local surfer and drinks at the Sandbar, The Lookout, The Beach Pit, The Galway Hooker and El Grotto. He is probably pushing for longer drinking hours.

Dont forget the Oceans 6019 & Scarbs Beach Bar DD!! :silly:

Yep Beasely Jnr what a farce, a tried a heap of times and is now handed a gimme, Dads the Gov and his best mate the Prem.

Remember Barry Urban, they don't vet these clowns that well.

I don't reckon it will matter, Harvey will go with the pro McGowan clean sweep, and there is some ex cop former liberal clown running as an independant that will split the conservative vote and hand an easy win to labor.

Is their a minimum number of seats a party needs to win to be considered a "Party" in the lower house? Maybe those few straggler Libs & Nats that keep their seats will all have to sit as independents. Not a healthy state of affairs to have such a dominant ruling party be they Lab or Lib. Seems Lab will gain control of the upper house so will not be held to account by anyone, given the Media have a hard on for The Emperor. It's inevitable that McGowan will go the way of other successful (from and election POV) past premiers and suffer from a massive dose of arrogance, it is already starting to show, can understand it given everything has fallen into place, with the change to GST, record iron ore prices, tagging onto the end of and basking in the glory of the infrastructure projects that Barnett had in place and our geographical isolation re Covid, he really hasn't had to be too innovative or creative and wont have to for the forseeable future, if he stays on as premier he's looking at at least 2 more terms, maybe 3, the Libs are light years away from being any sort of political force and wont be if they continue to allow the extreme right wing happy clapper religious groups to hijack the party. I'll stick with my sitting member up here at York Mia Davies, a very active popular and approachable local member and leader of the Nats, hope she can hold her seat.

Good post SS. As you say, I can't see the Libs mounting a genuine threat to McGoo and his mates any time soon but as we know, 4 years is a long time in politics and pretty soon Labor will actually have to start formulating policies and coming up with their own ideas instead of riding on Barnett's work and covid. Their only big ticket item on the books at present is Metronet so it remains to be seen if that is successfully built and implemented as they haven't got much else at present to hang their political hats on after 4 years in office.

All true mate.

There is no set number, the rule is who ever has the next biggest number of seats is the opposition, there is a chance that may end up the Nats if they keep 3 seats and the libs end up with 2.

I think there is some rule fro WAEC for sitting members numbers to claim funding money

SS I’ve been asked to ask you the following.

Do you think Terry Redman should lead the Nationals again?

While Mia Davies is a good hardworking MP for her Electorate, Terry is the political hardhead needed to put the Major Parties in there place.

They will be in power for at least another 10 years, Next time around Libs will need to gve them a big scare and reclaim a heap of seats for a red hot go in 2031.

Fark me I'll be ancient.

As you say last 5 years we have been treading water, metronet is still a pipe dream, plans to build trains, and now iron ore carts sound great but the reality is cost viability may not be that flash, the rail cars will just be assembled here from components brought from the east, makes you wonder if its really worth it.

got the feeling three landscapes are about to change polarity

Victoria & NSW could have new parties elected given the corruption , scandals & shocking decisions by their "leaders"

In NSW the Nationals & Libs can't stand each other and there are constant fights
In Victoria Andrews is just incompetant

And now Federal Libs are in deep deep shit with this revolting rape business - it will cost many female voters and could spell the end for Mr Morrison very quickly by the looks of it

In WA - well the Libs have been in the shit ever since Grylls & Barnett fell out and it all unravelled they have no chance of coming even distantly close and the church revelations are exactly the opposite of what they needed right now

Let me point out a few things to balance some of the posts on here.

Kirkup made the decision to seek the leadership of the Libs prior to the state election in the full knowledge that the Libs were likely to be beaten in a landslide. He chose not to wait until after the election. He also decided to close down coal mining - a sure way NOT to win the seat around Collie.

How many apprentices would have been trained if the Midland Workshops had not been closed?

When was the last time that Labor had control of the Legislative Council?

Perhaps some posters should not take notice of Paul Murray (Sky News after dark) when he claims that Labor will win both houses and a third mythical one as well.
