Is that the Obamacare as originally proposed by Obama, or the version finally passed after it was eviscerated by the Republican senate?

Have you noticed his current trend of sacking departmental watchdogs who dare to look at what egregious harm Trump and his lackeys are doing to the American politic?

Any proletariat voting for Trump is a disgrace. Talking of jobs - what is the unemployment rate over there?

I am skeptical AR - maybe John Curtin would of agreed with some - but all?, a bit of a stretch even by your standards of generalising. I doubt even the lunatics that voted for his orangeness agree with all his policies and many executive orders.

tm-- with respect generalisations are what tick this forum over, if one had to footnote everything there would be very few posts indeed. Are you suggesting that Curtin did not support the following:

the white Australia policy
a strong manufacturing sector supported by tariffs

they are principles on which the ALP was founded man.

During the Second World War, Prime Minister John Curtin reinforced the policy, saying "This country shall remain forever the home of the descendants of those people who came here in peace in order to establish in the South Seas an outpost of the British race."[3]

Where Curtin and Trump would have differed is on the yank's welfare programmes: Trump has taken away from the very poor in America, something Curtin would not have tolerated.

See the wikipedia article on the 'white australia' policy for the reference above.

Yep this civil liberties crap people come out with is a joke, every day our lives are regulated, you used to be able to drive pissed and drive without a seat belt, and you can only drive on one side of the road. We have rules and do things for public safety and health. my first right is to stay alive and healthy, there's a social contract that we agree with to hand over rights on the basis that the majority are kept safe. And what's the big deal anyway, so we are asked to stay home and watch the tele..big deal, its not like we are being conscripted and sent OS to fight a war and die. I would hate to see these weak moaners put under real pressure.

How about this DD....the US has 272 deaths per million of population and we have 4....does that put it into perspective for you?

Curtin and the ALP and pretty much everybody were strong supporters on the White Australia Policy, he would be heart broken to see the state of the place today.

But in terms of Social Justice and Worker Rights, forget it, Curtin was a Socialist, opposed to free markets, opposed worker exploitation, was pro union, and wanted more support for the poor.

Introduced Widows and Deserted Wives pensions, child endowment, aboriginal welfare payments, improved superannuation for commonwealth workers, was committed to centralised wage fixing, public ownership of assets etc.

Oh really Einstein? I assume you’ve got something to back that up or it’s a throw away line to dismiss someone with a difference of opinion to you?

Remember Arthur Caldwell saying " Two WONGS dont make a WHITE" or was it 12 Penny Wongs dont make a silver shilling.
