Hillary actually received more primary votes than Trump across country but the electoral college system saw her lose....same has happened in Australia in the past at Federal elections.

BC, that is true but they have had the electoral system since 1790 to protect the small states; you must win in the college to be president. In the end not enough democrats i stress democrats -- trump was a democrat too -- voted for her in Philidelphia, and the mid west states to make her president. She never even visited in the mid western states, from what I have read, because she is hated for her feminism, greenism and alleged corruption. Trump knew all this which is why he campaigned in those places plus Florida and Ohio.

The electoral college functions a little bit similar to our federal referendum system, one must win four of the six states not just a majority of the populace to carry a question.
