The arbitrator has declared that Keitel is eligible to play for the Falcons, both clubs must come to an agreed fee otherwise the arbitrator will determine a value.

Ok, so what are his draft options now?

1) Drafted by West Coast. Apparently not likely, but if he did, he would return to East Perth.

2) Drafted by an Eastern States Club.

3) Drafted by Fremantle and get shunted to Peel.

In all the above, West Perth would only have him for 1 year.

4) Not getting drafted

Which leads to the question. Coming from the State U18's, why did NO AFL Club want him in the last draft. Not playing League was no barrier; others in the past have been drafted from the Colts.

Maybe he is not the right type of PERSON AFL Clubs want.

Good to see some common sense has prevailed with this and this young guy will get the chance to play league footy without worrying about the prospect of competing with the AFL players dropping back every week and denying him a clear run. In my opinion he will only enhance his prospects by doing this.

Perhaps u are right and perhaps being involved with players and coaches already in the system might have helped him as well.

unfortunately knowing the boy I suspect that he will be an average wafl player who exhibits the histrionics that will not help him and that would have happened at EP, WP or any other club.

I hope WP get good service for their investment.

He would have had opportunities at East Perth. After the draft he spent time with the Eagles recruiting staff organised by East Perth. Explaining why he wasn't drafted and what he needed to do, apparently it didn't go down well in his circle. Talking to a couple of guys in the know he would have to do more than play well to be ever considered again. Good luck to him from my point of view, but I worry about the decision in terms of the clubs with money having the right to buy whoever they like. The protected player list is now defunct and we all know contracts are not worth the paper they are printed on.

From what we have read regarding Peel Thunder and their recruiting which seemed to go against WAFC Rules, I think that if it had been Peel in this situation and not East Perth, then the decision would have gone the other way.

I presume now that the supporters of the other G7 Clubs will be over the moon. Unless the transfer fee is substantial, I feel that the East Perth Club will have been well and truly screwed and sat on its' backside.

As I understand it he was uncontracted anyway and not sure that EP are entitled to a protected player list if they have access to the Eagles list also. Sounds like wanting cake and eating it too to me!

EP shouldn't waste their time putting a figure on him. Just head over to the arbitrator tomorrow and bend over. WP should offer them 20 cents for him. EP are dreaming and wasting their time asking anything over a couple of grand for him. WP's mate's down at arbitration will look after them again and hand him over for peanuts. If this is the precedent, it certainly is going to change the landscape.

If you think EP is entitled to protected players is irrelevant in this case. I think you will find clubs don't contract graduating colts until they work out what they have as the season unfolds. Up until now clubs have not poached kids straight out of Colts. It's open slather now so this will change.
