EP are dreaming and wasting their time asking anything over a couple of grand for him. WP's mate's down at arbitration will look after them again and hand him over for peanuts. If this is the precedent, it certainly is going to change the landscape.

The precedent that opposition clubs are now allowed to contact colts kids before they are 19 or the precedent thatplayers transitioning between colts and league are fare game? Could get really ugly next off season, why bother paying tens of thousands of dollars recruiting senior players when you can pick up another teams best junior talent for just $1-2k?

Lets face it, the alignment has seen this kid depart. EP can hardly squeal, we all new these situations would arise.

Yes all that, but my immediate thought was why baulk at changing clubs for fear of being blocked or a high transfer fee when you can go to arbitration and get it sorted much cheaper and without the hassle ...

The alignment had nothing to do with it. All the kids at East Perth are there because they want to be. No one dragged them there or threatened them. It was their choice regardless of the alignment. East Perth has some good Amateur teams in their zone. Coolbinia, Mt Lawley and Noranda are just a few, but they choose their parent Club.

He departed because he can't handle initial rejection and lets his mother and father fight his battles for him.

If that is the case then i dont understand why EP would block his clearance. I do see Swans and Perth and East Freo have picked up alot of EP players over the summer so something stinks!

Quite simply this young fella will now find out whether he can cut the mustard at WAFL level at a Club without interference from an AFL Clubs surplus players taking positions in the team. The opportunity to play senior football is there for him....if he is good enough he will play & hopefully take the next step up. To the knockers....wait & see & reserve your comments until the end of the season! Go West.

Your a expert jjim which afl players will deptive him a game.won't be glass or cox they have retired.won't be wilson he's delisted.Won't be mckenzie or waters.won't be the new draftees because no kpp were drafted.Leaves sinclair who will miss the first three games,Maybe Mcinnes.Powell&Barrass have yet to play a league game at east perth due to interrupted seasons last year.Add to that Josh Smith who will miss the first part of the season.Loved Crutes comment that west coast have heaps of talls. He must be on another planet. If west coast drop back some talls let them please be Kenneddy,Mcgovern and Lycett.

one time only wrote: Ok, so what are his draft options now?

1) Drafted by West Coast. Apparently not likely, but if he did, he would return to East Perth.

2) Drafted by an Eastern States Club.

3) Drafted by Fremantle and get shunted to Peel.

In all the above, West Perth would only have him for 1 year.

4) Not getting drafted

Which leads to the question. Coming from the State U18's, why did NO AFL Club want him in the last draft. Not playing League was no barrier; others in the past have been drafted from the Colts.

Maybe he is not the right type of PERSON AFL Clubs want.

They have signed him for two years.I think that says it all.

Perhaps u are right and perhaps being involved with players and coaches already in the system might have helped him as well.

unfortunately knowing the boy I suspect that he will be an average wafl player who exhibits the histrionics that will not help him and that would have happened at EP, WP or any other club.

I hope WP get good service for their investment.

Hey grump the fact that he wants to play for the sooks says a lot for him.I love the comment about having a better chance of getting drafted by playing at sookland.Might have had a better chance if he headed to sharkland or the tigers.
