I hope you blokes aren’t building him up too much. We’ve seen it before recruits coming from lesser comps not measuring up. I hope Earl doesn’t fall for the trap of playing him in the league side straight up. Let him find his feet in the reserves and dominate at that level over a month or so before he gets his chance where he’ll come up against much better defenders than he’s probably ever encountered before.

If the guy has a good preseason followed by good fiorm in the scratch matches there’s no reason why he shouldn’t play league come round one.
Obviously if he’s below par then yeah he starts in the ressies.

DD I am not building him up at all. My comments are from observations only.
I have no idea how good a footballer he is and he will probably cost us 10 points.
Yes QAFL is a lesser comp but he was leading goal kicker in 2019 and was in the Queensland State team.
Have a look at his Facebook page...my impressions of him were that he was an impressive well rounded person. We should assume that we have done the due diligence and hopefully he can play footy at WAFL level as good as he presents as a person.
Just MHO.

Must say I’m most surprised 30plus coming from you. Have you changed your tune? You normally bang on about how we are always recruiting blokes who are fringe players or from comps several levels below WAFL. Ryan Murphy you classed as “excellent recruiting” the othe day, which I agree, but he never played another league game last year after playing against us at Lathlain which was our 5th straight win. Obviously why he’s looked elsewhere for greater opportunities.

I disagree with you, again scratch matches are vastly different from from the real thing. Can we possibly contain our excitement for once and make players earn their stripes and make their league debut when they’ve earned it by banging down the door and demanding they be picked? Seen it too often before at this club we play blokes in the league side before they are ready.

He’s kicked 44 goals in the QFL. WA would thrash Queensland in a state match. That’s a fact.

I’ve banged on about recruiting ressies players from other WAFL clubs not recruiting from state leagues around the land.

I’ve also banged on in the past about how Brenton Cooper was recruited from a lesser league and that they are out there you just have to go out and find them, this guy may or may not be that next Cooper.

I didn’t mention Murphy as “excellent” recruiting in my post I mentioned Masten and him were “great” pickups.

I don’t think any of my posts are showing “over excitement” plus I haven’t mentioned to much about this guy at all,I still believe we are short of a recruit or two,I still have no faith in our Rucks and I believe we are short a quality key back.

Our recruiting in the past has been below par that’s a fact and it may be below par this year time will tell.

Coaches can only go by preseason form and scratch match form,I’ve never argued that point.

So if this guy kicks 10 goals in his first ressies game you’d still play him in the twos for another three weeks to find his feet?

No worries I just think we should learn something from the past. I remember a bloke, can't recall his name we picked up from a Vic country league I think had kicked a century of goals. Kicked 11 in a reserves match but found it much tougher going at league level.

And I think we should stay off the EF thread instead of crowing over there. Freezin takes notes.
